A tip of the hat to Steven Milam

Monster is going down swinging- .500 BA with 3 HRs and 8 RBIs in Florida series.
Best defensive SS ever at LSU will be missed. Will never forget his classic walk-off vs. South Carolina in 2024 SEC tournament, one of the wildest comebacks I've ever seen.

I'm really hoping we get him back next year... but I also get the whole leverage thing.
If he leaves, is there any chance we could take back Mikey Ryan? NC State is a solid program but Tommy Tanks can tell him why LSU is the better choice.

He will probably have a matched offer from LSU to come back next year in the 500-700k range which is where his current draft grade is. I think he’ll be back.

Not a chance we’re paying a baseball player $700k

I hope you're right. But from Milam's body language today, I'd be surprised if this isn't a wrap.

He upped his stock this weekend
Three home runs, two against future first rounders

His body language been like that last 2 months. I do hope that he comes back though to help turn this team around.

He is currently a sixth round draft grade. One more year at LSU, he probably goes to AA instead of A according to Theriot. Sixth round money is around 400-500k. Baseball will get a much larger nil next year.

I get his general laid back body language, that's the norm with him. I'm taking about him being emotional in the dugout after the game.

I haven’t followed closely, has this been stated?

Baseball is a non revenue collegiate sport. Nobody is paying anywhere close to what you’d make in the pros
You can’t compare it to basketball/football.

You have zero clue
And I mean that. You have absolutely no insight as to what LSU will offer a guy like Milam

He has that x factor, when there is something on the line when he come to the plate, he has been clutch for 3 seasons.

Agreed. This team had some serious issues but Milam wasn't one of them.

Jared Jones was paid like $200-250k. Milam is not getting double or triple that.
I don’t think you have any insight or common sense when it comes to how much baseball players get in NIL money.

Why would he come back. Get drafted and start your grind to work towards the show.
Posted on 5/17/26 at 10:23 am to Jack Crevalle
A great defensive shortstop. And a National Champion. I would like to see him come back because I think his size and the fact that his batting prowess does not match his fielding prowess will keep him from getting a huge MLB contract.

PotatoChip actually nailed what is going to happen with Milam. Not sure if he is guessing or has inside info. Down to the $$$.

Milam is what you call a DUDE. Always serious, always ready to rumble. He’s going to play ball for a while.
