His lack of patience just kills him.

There’s a place for a guy with limited vision in short yardage, but he has to get lower and be a Larry Csonka type.

So we feed him pitch outs for most of his carries? The defense will know that too and stop it.

I think that's right. If you bounce a play outside the scheme, it better work or you'll be on the sideline getting yelled at on the next play.

I thought he made a couple of nice runs last night. I'm not giving up on him, nor are his team mates and coaches.

Someone stated it earlier. For a guy his size, I see safetys and smaller players take his down way too easily. That's disappointing

I had high hopes for him but it's become obvious he has no vision. we win the USC game with Durham

I’ve been saying the same thing. I don’t remember the exact play at USC game, but we were in the red zone and they handed the ball to him and he ran right into a pile of people with no hole. All he had to do was run around that pile and voila TD. We outworks have won the damn game had he done that. I was kinda done with him after that. I hope he can improve. But Durham is the man (if he can stay healthy. Not sure about that ankle though).

Part of this is the Coaches fault. He has consistently shown that he is not good at reading blocks. So with that we need to stop calling gap scheme runs, zone scheme runs, etc. He does better with sweeps, counters, and iso's when he doesn't need to read.

Zone you have many different layers and can hit cutbacks, or either a or b holes. Outside zone is more of a strong side a, b, or c gap depending on how far the stretch is being made. He doesn't do well at all hence why he barrels ahead instead of bouncing the play outside or backside when there is a hole. He puts his foot down and runs.

So with that the Coaches (like they have said) need to call run plays that suit his style. Which iso and counters do suit his run style and vision.

A lot of that is feel, which he doesn't have that feel for when to bounce or look past his blockers. So take that away from him and give him the ball when all he needs to do is read the block of the tight end or guard isolated on the tackle or inside linebacker depending on the iso/counter personnel/and play call.

You could see Nuss tell him to head to the sideline. I laughed but also felt bad for Jackson

It’s not youth as much as it is lack of reps. Remember he missed his whole Sr. season in high school. Had limited carries last year. Limited carries this year. I’m not saying the light will definitely come on for him. Just that it’s too early to give up on him.

He’s not gonna be the stud RB1 we all hoped he’d be this year, but he can still have a role. There will be some worn out defenses that won’t want to tackle him in the 4th quarter, even if he is running right into them.

You have to have vision to play LB, too.

True, you often have to fill holes and gaps. That’s not his specialty

Football IQ, no vision, no instincts

More of a fullback.

He must close his eyes when running into the line. Pretty hard to miss some of the holes he's missing, and certainly he is being shown pictures like this reguarly.

This. I don’t know as much about Berry but JT Lindsay isn’t coming to sit. Jackson should transfer out after season if he continues at this rate.

I don’t disagree but the kid played at Liberty which had zero coaching and just gave him the football. He also sat out all of his senior year after his injury in week 1
He may have no chance but I think it will click for him. Kid had legit track speed in HS while being 210 lbs

Counters are gap scheme runs. Isos are gap scheme runs. Sweeps can be but aren’t always gap scheme runs. Vision matters on almost any type of run but matters less on gap scheme runs compared to zone. Say we are running counter. That’s gonna hit in the B gap usually so Jackson knows where his aiming point is. Zone is more open to interpretation of the back.

Counter is a type of gap scheme. We discussing gap it was almost entirely power.

Iso is a man blocking scheme. Although some people have taken iso and mirrored it into a zone or gap scheme run its was a man blocking scheme.

In today's play calling they have taken each type of run to use it in each blocking system but that is not how those plays were typically used.
