I'm not a Les Miles hater, if anything I would be considered a former defender, but without a doubt the man makes too many "coaching 101" errors to ignore.
Some examples from Saturdays game: Not challenging the fumble in the first half........letting 5 or more seconds tick off the clock before calling a timeout (inexcusable in that situation).
We can second guess playcalling, and much of it is deserved, but these other issues are basic and symptomatic.
In plain speak, Miles is not a good game manager. We can and have overcome those obsticles on numerous occasions, but I think the feeling of most Tiger fans is the frustration of HAVING to..........and at times falling short because of them.

depends on how the wins come. if its 10 wins like miss st and la tech last year, unc this year, then yes i'd still feel he needs to go. its not the final outcome of games that has people (like me at least) all over miles, but the way they're played out. we get outcoached every week it seems, win or lose.
BOOM first candidate in the thread for frickING IDIOT OF THE YEAR.
You don't get out coached and win (it will be then) 61 games in 6 years. Don't, can't, won't...

You were defending Tepper and Gerry D back then.
After '98 I did, but not '99. I didn't root against the team to guarantee Dinardo would be fired. Do you have any confessions to make on that respect, Herr Lacour?

sure u do, its called fortune/luck. UNC TE doesnt drop those last 2 passes in the endzone, we lose. how different do you think the score woulda been if the tables were turned, and we had butch davis on our sideline, and miles on unc's last week? or dooley on our sideleine, miles on la tech's last year? dont get me wrong, i like the guy, want nothing more than for him to succeed. he has high morals and cares about the players a great deal. but he just doesnt have "it" as far as being a great, $4+ million a year football coach. would be much more suited to be a highschool principle.

I've always said that considering the talent that LSU has this season that the team must finish at least 10 & 2 for me to accept Less Miles as coach for another year. So the answer is yes.
However, after watching the first game against NC, if we end up with a 10 win or better season it will be despite Less Miles not because of him.

Of course. 10-2 would be a good season.

Yes, but can we make him get a new OC?

No. he needs to be gone. Blind squirrel can find a nut.

I don't think Miles is nearly as stubborn as Dinardo.
But the dots connect with me in that Dinardo kept DC Tepper on staff, even when the world could see his defensive schemes were too complex for the average student athlete to execute with any consistency.
Now... the dots connect in that it was pretty clear last year that the offensive schemes of GC were too complex for our 4 and 5 star athletes to execute with any consistency. The need was obvious enough for CLM to bring Gonzo onto the staff to try and fix the broken pipeline.
Dinardo didn't make the change in his DC even though the world knew it was necessary.
CLM hasn't made the change in his OC, even though the world knows it is necessary.
In my book, that is either stubborn or dumb. But go ahead - you choose.

If LSU finishes the regular season 10-2 this year, will you be willing to accept that he deserves to be back in 2011?
yes

Not if they lose to Ole Miss...

10-2 and lose to both Bama & UF: Miles must go.
10-2 and lose to either Bama or UF (pick one): Miles can stay.
How about you answer the reverse? If LSU's record is:
9-3 or worse does CLM go?
If the offense is in the lower half of D1A or twice the ranking, does Crowton go?
If over half of our defensive stops are in LSU territory, does Chavis go?
The list with respect to coaches goes on, the point is when do you posi-Miles start holding the coaches accountable and stop offering Commie pinko f*g bleeding heart liberal I'm OK you're OK excuses?
