A quick breakdown of the LSU portal class

QB- Michael Van Buren
A nice young option who should develop and be a starter in the future.
WR- Nic Anderson, Barion Brown, Destyn Hill
Anderson and Brown should form an elite trio with Aaron Anderson. Hill likely won't play much but could be a nice piece later.
TE- Bauer Sharp, Donovan Green
Two experienced additions who will both get a lot of reps. Green is a plus blocker, Sharp is a plus reciever.
OL- Josh Thompson, Braelin Moore
Two experienced power 4 starters who'll slot in on the interior of the LSU OL. Thompson at Guard, Moore at Center. Big gets after losing almost the entire OL.
DT- Sydir Mitchell
Developmental take who can eat some space but needs work.
EDGE- Patrick Payton, Jack Pyburn, Jimari Butler
Payton should step in and be our best pass rusher while Pyburn excels in stopping the run. Butler will be a situational pass rusher. All three have a defined role.
CB- Mansoor Delane, Ja'Keem Jackson
Delane is a versatile DB who should immediately be an impact player. Jackson should also start, but he's coming off an injury so hard to gauge.
S- TaMarcus Cooley
A huge addition, Cooley will bring a legit safety to this team for two years. Committed earlier today after a long battle with Kentucky.
P- Grant Chadwick
A big leg who should step in and challenge Todd. An under-the-radar get who should play with a lot of eligibility.
An amazing class that should help bring LSU back to the top. Next year's team looks VERY entertaining.

Good write up but don’t forget about Chris Hilton at WR.

yeah....Hilton will force teams to play 2 deep, which was greatly missed this year. It opens up the middle more.

I think Hilton will have a role but I don't think he's going to be a starter. Think there's constant rotation though

Hilton will definitely be a starter if he is fully healthy which he was the last game.

Wouldn't shock me, I just tend to think it'll be the Andersons and Barion Brown. We'll see

If he can't beat out Peyton Todd, he must not be very good.

easy

"Starter" will honestly just depend of the formation or position grouping. We have a decent amount of talent at WR,TE,and RB and for the first couple of games there will probably be alot of interchanging.

Assuming he is healthy, Hilton will absolutely start.

My hope is Kelly and Sloan sat Trey’Dez down and said “Do not play basketball…we need you to learn every rep at every position.”
If there is a down he is not on the field we have failed the program. Whether it is slot in the redzone, outside at the goal line, multiple TE spots
He is the biggest freak on the team and how they utilize him will help Hilton/anderson/anderson/brown/thomas…love mason Taylor and he made amazing plays. Trey’Dez Green is a difference maker that few programs ever get. 6’7 240, most athletic person on the field every time he plays. Let him eat

I'd doubt that. He's a depth piece and expect them to bring in a high end transfer next offseason. MVB could develop and become starter quality, but that's far from probable at this point.

I thought Josh Thompson was a right tackle?

I agree. You don't sit the guy that instantly changed the offense and took the top off the defense when he was healthy. He opens the offense up for your intermediate passing game and pushes safety help back which should benefit the run game.

SEC is fricked and they don't even know it yet

Huh? The kid showed a super high ceiling as a true freshmen in the SEC on team without that much talent. Truly what is more do you need to see lol

He can play tackle but is projected to be a guard at lsu.

When do we start getting videos of our new guys? Seems like LSU used to be alot more active a posting behind the scenes football content. Saw a video yesterday of the EEs moving in.
