re: A potential solution to keep Frank Wilson

Frank don’t hold shite together. He got our shite pushed in by bama despite the defenses effort, we beat a hapless arky team just barely, played WKU 13-10 and then lost to OU.
We would have gotten the same results with anyone. He also isnt the only one that could hold that class together as baker or someone else could have just told them offers stand wait and see.

Keep him at RB coach.
Nah, he can beat feet out of BR. He’s been shite for a while.
Honestly, anyone involved with this offensive operation this year should be fired immediately upon the clock reading 0:00 in the Texas Bowl.

Is there a potential solution to make LSU good at the running back position and not waste all this 5 star talent we have??
Yes…have a functional offensive line.

So he is a terrible recruiter?
I don’t think so, but that’s just me.
FWIW, the links to the coaches in the New Orleans area, regardless of position being recruited, are invaluable imho.

On the defensive side…True.
But, I would wager a cold pop that he was also instrumental in reaching out to those players.

Frank has an offer from LSU in hand, but it is not as running back coach.
Link?

That shite is so overstated. This isn’t 2008 man. How many recruits did he lose to Alabama?

He has to be in one of the 10 on-field roles if he wants to recruit, but analysts can coach on the field now.
Its amazing that so many around here dont know the rules
Correct.
Analysts, however, cannot recruit (outside of the facilities).
Wilson = recruiter (RB coach in title)
Smith = analyst (actual RB coach in reality).
LSU solidifies recruiting, coaching, and keeps a rival out of New Orleans (to a large degree).

True. I mean, it’s not like Alabama had Nick Saban or anything.

Yea this isn’t 08 anymore.
Frank is fine as a recruiter but to act like him is anyone recruiter is going to lock an area down isn’t true. Even when we were at our peak we couldn’t completely shut down the state.
For LSU to be its best we need a fence around Louisiana as a whole to where if we want 8/10 or 9/10 of the top guys come here. Then we cherry pick else where.
We have multiple ways to achieve that like having an ace Nola or in state guy which Frank isn’t the only person with New Orleans ties or two being its NIL era we just pay a little more or three we play the long game let an la kid leave and realize he doesn’t like being out of state and we take them in the transfer portal.
Frank has provided us years of service and is welcome to stay in a role Lane wants. What Frank is not is some corner stone piece that we can’t win without.
BK firing all of the O staff other than Brad Davis wasn’t a mistake well other than letting Davis stay. The BK mistake was in hitting dog shite coaches not that he let Raymond go. So same with Lane if Frank doesn’t like his new role he can go and we will replace him and roll on.

but because he's so strong and Ole Miss runs him so much at the goal line, he'll rack up touchdowns.
So you're saying Smith looks at his skillset and uses him effectively in accordance with said skillset? That's not a penalty?

Frank is the sentimental favorite to keep on board.
If Lane decides he wants to put another person in charge of the running backs, then that is Lane's call. If Frank does not want to be retained as a recruiting coordinator, that is Franks call. These are business decisions based on objective evaluations of coaches performance or lack there of. Realistically Frank as an X&O's coach is underwhelming. I think recruiting in the NIL environment is a lot about the $$$ and less about coaching relationships. The agents have more influence with the recruitment than we can even imagine.

A better solution is to make Honey Badger a defensive analyst...have events where the NOLA HS Coaches come and meet him and RB coach Kevin Smith.
One of Honey Badgers roles would be to be the Player Personnel Rep...showing them how to prepare like a pro.
Mathieu needs a role in LSU football.

Oh god another “one of us” post.

Trust in Lane. He will make the decision that best suits the Tigers team going forward. Frank Wilson is not the only coach with Louisiana ties and he is not as valuable as he once was.
Posted on 12/9/25 at 7:39 am to jimmy the leg
Just make them officially both co-running back coachs, but keep Frank Wilson for primarily recruiting in person.
Posted on 12/9/25 at 7:54 am to jimmy the leg
With NIL , Wilson’s importance to holding down LA recruiting is vastly overrated

quote:My mistake, for the past few weeks we see these exact same threads poping up. Frank is a bad RB coach, he is as much to blame for LSU's horriable running Offence as Brad Davis Crap OL coaching, both are good recruiters but bad coaches
It’s my first post about him.
I’m not sure why you feel that it is stupid.
Frank is retained.
He recruits for LSU (not Ole Miss).
He no longer coaches the running backs (despite the title).

The guy who had Stevan Ridley, Jeremy Hill, Leonard Fournette, and Derrius Guice as stars at LSU. Great backups who became NFL role players like Spencer Ware. Guys who were great backups like Alfred Blue, Michael Ford, Kenny Hilliard, Terrence Magee, and Darrell Williams.
All of those guys played 10+ years ago. And I’m not even sure how influential Frank was in their development based on his timeline of 2010-2015. He would have overlapped with guys like Ridley, Fournette, and Guice for only one season.
