BS........Saban had the AU-Bama game moved to Saturday because he didn't like playing on Friday.

That statement right there says a lot. Why should only having a half day to tailgate affect how loud you scream and root for the Tigers?

Fact is, if SEC night games were more lucrative than the mentalist or numb3rs, they would show them every week.

He's just stating the obvious. LSU gets a lot of benefit out of being in the SEC and sharing the revenues of the SEC's TV contracts. To receive these benefits, we have to comply with the contractual requirements, including moving our game times when the TV networks say so. The reason the networks want to televise all of our SEC home games this year is that we are #1. So, basically the only way to avoid this "problem" would be to either withdraw from the SEC or not be as interesting to the networks (i.e. not be as good as we are).
This! Give me a break! Maybe we should just break off from the SEC and be like Notre Dame! Their football program is really rolling right now!

Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Auburn and Georgia all respecfully disagree

Ummmm, yes there is.

Lobbying for a clause to allow you to insure one night SEC home game per season is not an unreasonable request in such negotiations.
After only making it to page 3
How do people not understand that we are a bargaining chip for the SEC? CBS only gets one night game a year that aint changing and is out of our control thats between them and ESPN. All the other games are in the afternoon. They arent going to pay as much to the conference if they know that at least one SEC week a season our game is off the table. So why would the other schools vote for an exemption? It everyone would get less money.
As for the people stil whining about the parking get over it....every game has been the same as normal as far as atmosphere. Yeah NSU didnt have as large a tailgate crowd as Florida thats normal. Florida was packed though. The school needs money therefor the AD has to help out. If you care that much about it quit voting for Jindal.

You're equating a typing error to a lack of intelligence? Son, I could write prose that'd make your heart ache from confusion, but what would it profit me?

Good lord people.
They can't televise an SEC game ever week because of the no compete clause with espn
This has been said at least 100 times

Dude chill out. I wasn't attributing my whole post to you. Think what you want to think...I don't care. At least one person somewhere did post that he thought CBS should carry SEC games EVERY Saturday night...my response was to that person. Trust me, I can hold my own in a reading comprehension battle. The bottom line is what I was trying to get across in my post...the current contract makes a lot of people a lot of money and there is no way any of it gets changed just because LSU wants to play at night. That is indisputable, no matter how much people want to bitch about it.
LSUGrad9295,
I'm not excited. Not in the least. Certainly not enough to refer to anyone as doofus, or make the mistake of quoting someone directly in a response when actually trying to respond to everyone who disagreed with my opinion. You may wanna look in the mirror there. I'm having my doubts about your reading comprehension. I'm also curious as to how one has a "battle" in that department? Ah well, I'll leave that struggle to you & your Sylvan tutor.
Seriously, though, I get the point you're coming across with. We all do. We know that very little-if anything-can be done in the short-term. None of us needed to be reminded of that reality.
My point, however, is that Alleva should've used that letter to respond to the Fans by letting them know that while there's nothing he could do now, he would attempt to carry their water to the powers that be that impact this situation when the time comes.
It would've been an incredibly simple and yet extremely powerful message: Hey, I know this sucks. We all know we can't do anything now. But when we can try to do something, rest assured, even if its futile, I'll try. Because I think you're important enough to try.
Like I said...Incredibly simple. Letting the fanbase know that he's on our side. He hears the complaints and will try to impact change in the future. He wants to try, no matter what the result will be, because that's what we want.
He didn't take the opportunity. Now, its lost, and he's done effectively nothing to quiet the restless natives, and thrown away a golden opportunity to connect with fans and ingratiate himself by taking their concerns into account, no matter how trivial or ultimately fruitless it may be.
This is a prime example of why this guy isn't the guy we need him to be. He's doing a good job of making the University lots of money while not upsetting the applecart. A glorified yes-man. Nothing more.
I wish we could expect more. Especially with the money that we pay. Even if its just lip service.
Oh well.

The number of people who tailgate on campus is not the SEC's, nor CBS's problem.

So with 14 teams in the SEC for 2012 will the TV contract remain the same? But wouldnt the existing LSU schools get less of the pie now with the same contract?
Posted on 10/18/11 at 10:44 am to LSUGrad9295
LSUGRAD, dude...I'm yelling no matter when it is...I prefer yelling at night.
I wonder what CBS and ESPN and all these networks did in the past decades when they made no money and had nothing to program? Must have been a tough time before this contract.
Arguing for ALL/ONLY night games is not what is being argued. But not having ONE LSU/SEC opponent matchup at night is a problem. Scheduling ONE LSU night game is not that hard to do with a little negotiation in the future. It most certainly is lucrative.
This should be the only year not having an SEC opponent night game can happen. Sitting back and dealing with this contract, with no changes, until the end of its term is unacceptable to the traditions of our school if it continues to exclude the opportunity for us to play at night, even if we are the #1 team in the nation.
