That's probably the most fun game I've ever attended where we lost.

I’ve said the same thing since that day. Came down to the wire.

ETA: Athens is a great college town

For those talking about LSU's shitty defense, also realize that 2013 was when the phrase "3rd and Grantham" was coined. He had a great defense and was a God in 2012, but all those guys went to the NFL and we didn't have depth, so several true freshmen started in the secondary and we got torched all year. He was fired at the end of the season. It wasn't just LSU's defense that sucked that day.

Another good storyline was Mettenberger's homecoming, as an Athens (Watkinsville) native, and former bulldog who transferred after an incident. I remember watching him play in UGA's spring game and thinking he was the future. Richt ran a tight ship so Zach had to go (for better or worse, right or wrong, that's how Richt handled stuff). So it was Murray vs Mett. And boy did both QB's deliver.

I remember UGA couldn’t stop the pass. We were on fire and could basically throw it wherever we wanted. Then Les started pounding Hill into the middle of UGA’s defense. If he would have just kept throwing the ball we win that game even with the fumbled punt.

I don't know what this means, but it does remind me something else about this game, if I recall, Mett's cell phone number got posted on some UGA boards and people just started shite-texting him and fricking with him for the week leading up to the game, he had to get a new phone and a new number. I'm not proud of it, but I'm also not not proud of it.

Mett and Jarvis and Odell (save for a critical fumbled punt) were en Fuego

Until we got the ball at the end with enough time to drive and win....and Mett went 4 and out.

Hated to lose but great performance by Mett. Was very proud for him that day. Must’ve been crazy emotional

That's correct but I don't want to screw up the topic title at this point. My friend texted me the pic saying ten years ago so I just reposted it here assuming it was to the day. No biggie. If you like, I can delete all this and post it next Wednesday.

Yeah, it was one of those games that was overall well played and someone had to lose. I was with friends and we went out after and I couldn't find an LSU fan that was truly upset that we lost. Both teams played well that day.

BTW in terms of hospitable fans, you guys at Georgia were first class that day. Before and after the game.

Defense was horrible in that game but the whole thing was blown on OBJ's muffed punt. LSU had been fighting the whole game to stem the tide and shift the initiative.

LSU scores a TD late in the 3rd to tie it at 27 and the defense finally gets a 3 and out and a stop. OBJ muffs the punt and Georgia scores a TD 3 plays later.

LSU fought back in the 4th to take the lead late but LSU was primed to put their foot on Georgia's neck after the defensive stop before the muffed punt.

If I recall correctly, I think this was also the game where Gurley twisted is ankle getting tackled going out of bounds and missed a bunch more games that season, which certainly hurt the UGA season. A bunch of UGA fans were crying late hit or dirty hit etc, but it was clean, just part of the game. Then right as Gurley was getting back up to speed to enter the next season, the autograph scandal came out and he was suspended another few games. Then when he came back, he swiftly tore his ACL. The beginning of the end for Gurley at UGA was that sprained ankle in the 2013 LSU game.

I was the next section over. I sorta remember seeing that. The UK fans behind me kept "making" me do shots of bourbon every time Uk did something good.

By far the best game I’ve ever been to, last year’s nattie included. I thought we were gone until the fumbled punt. No one left the stadium afterwards and the team came back out of the locker room and ran a victory lap around the field.

Crazy that’s been 9 years ago. A group of friends & I made the trip while we were in college. Had a helluva time and honestly wasn’t even mad we lost.

Went to Silver Dollar after the game and don’t remember much. Woke up in the truck bed of a random arse truck parked in front of City Hall (thank God they didn’t drive home because I think they had SC plates).

Ended up getting back to our hotel & had to pick up a friend of ours at y’all’s alumni hotel the next morning. His night was even wilder.

I was there, neither team could play any defense. Odell caught a Georgia kickoff with one hand. Pretty amazing. Met Charlie Trippi before the game, my Dad and he talked about YA Tittle. Trippi was in a wheelchair, dude had some big hands.
