Its been over 10 years since LSU has fielded a competent offense(outside of the one year in 2013 with an NFL QB and 2 NFL All-Pro receivers).

And you think LSU fans arent justified in their complaints? I dont see anybody complaining about the recruiting(except CEO and people making excuses for him), special teams or defense(except people who are trying to divert attention away from the pathetic offense to take heat off of CEO and SE).

Tell me if you think 10 years of this justifies "whining" -

LSU recruiting class average ranking from 2013-2016 - #7

LSU total offense ranking 2008-2018 - 51, 102, 81, 57, 77, 33, 75, 58, 71, 48, 101
Average - 69
LSU total offense ranking 2004-2007 - Jimbo Fisher(39, 34, 14), 9
Average - 24

LSU total passing yards 2004-2007 - 62, 35, 20, 42
Average - 40
LSU total passing yards 2008-2018 - 67, 92, 102, 100, 90, 43, 109, 108, 106, 82(Canada, best since 2008 sans NFLSU offense of 2013), 101
Average - 91

So under Less Smiles(without Fisher) and under Captain Orgeron, LSU got top 10 talent and produced bottom half results.

Thanks for motivating me enough to dig for these numbers. Now Im going to go post it on the main page.

Good job, a-hole.

Good grief. It’s been discussed ad nauseum. NO ONE is upset we are 8-2. But just because the record is better than many expected does not mean this team does not have serious issues on the coaching staff. Especially on offense. There is no reason at all for LSU to be this bad on one side of the ball. That’s what continues to frustrate people. The fact that with just a competent offense we would be better than 8-2 and have a real legimoshot at the playoff.

Don’t even try. They won’t ever understand.

They will never give credit to Orgeron for going out and bringing in a QB and several othee players who without them 8-2 and Top 10 ranking was IMPOSSIBLE

Ed didn't sign a QB do he had to go the transfer route. His frick up to fix. He had to go get a kicker because after 2 years with the program he realizes he doesn't have one. His frick up. He had to go get fehoko because he failed to bring in anyone better when he was d line coach and recruiting coordinator. His frick up to fix.

And to repeat. No one is complaining about 8-2

So it is only style points we are concerned about? If we scored 45 per game and were 5-5 it would be perfectly acceptable? Got it.

It wasn’t some Signing Day coup dude.

In fact it was only because of a NSD frickup that we were one of only a couple of schools in position to offer a scholarship to a late transfer anyway.

O beat out whoever the frick Cincinnati’s coach was mainly because Burrow had a big time mindset and wanted to play in a Gameday environment similar to the one he chose to experience at The Shoe and O had Tiger Stadium to offer against whatever stadium the mighty Bearcats play in.

What credit does he deserve beyond that?

And what has he done with this gift from Urban?? We have a worse offense than the previous offensively challenged regime ever did.

It’s not really the 8-2 that’s being complained about. It’s the continued frustration of the lackluster offense that LSU seems to struggle with year after year.

Overall happy with the W-L and O and staff deserve the credit.

The concern many have is with the way the offense is trending. Expected some stumbling at the beginning of the season but what’s happened lately, especially against Arkansas, was offensive regression. Would be happy just to see improvement on offense week to week even if they don’t blow the doors off teams just to get a sense that they’re building toward something better. The big let down is that it’s getting worse and staff appears to be struggling to sort it out. Message to fans and media has been inconsistent and doesn’t provide any level of confidence that they have a clear vision on how to fix it.

REALLY looking forward to see how they figure it out.

Wrong, because it means, once again, LSU is not competing for anything notable. I don't care about bowl trophies. Since the BCS, and now CFP, there is one thing elite teams compete for: National Championships.

You are right we should be happy with 8-2
We need a better offense but I'm happy with the progress of the team and recruiting

Yes it is... the delusion that people are pissed about a 8-2 record. Only an idiot would think it isn't the putrid offense that's making people bitch.

TigerFan244's delusion is real... the delusion he's not a douchebag

Underachieved from an offensive perspective is what I was referring to.

Yay. This thread again.

More boring than the multiple threads bitching about:
1. Ensminger
2. The O-line
3. Orgeron
4. Alleva
5. The "scheme"
6. New OC
7. SEC officiating
8. ESPN
9. General malaise?

You are just pi$$ed because it isn't negative enough for you. Its what you do.

Many here did. In fact, many who did were the ones labeled negative.

I swear, this might be my very favorite diversionary tactic. Be mad at low expectations at the beginning of the season and call out anyone in the press or fan base who makes them as delusional...then get mad at anyone who then CHANGES their opinion yo something more positive and starts saying that based on these arguments we ought to expect 10 wins...then trumpet a possible 10 win season as a solid frick YOU to those who suggested we may under-perform this year.

Kudos...really. You guys have managed to create a perpetual motion machine of ready made excuses.

No coach has completely turned around a team in a couple of seasons

Actually this is ridiculously wrong. In Kirby's second year UGA was 13-2 with a conference championship and seconds away from a national title win. There are way more than that just recently, but I thought I'd just check you on that right there.
quote:

Most of it is an entitled mentality of being a past championship contender.

Oooooooor many people see that LSU is a legit good Offensive coordinator away from being an perennial top 5 team. A guy like Briles or Freeze instantly make LSU a playoff contender.

We as fans see a team that could probably finish 11-2 with an offense that likely finishes in the 90s. Yeah I said as much, before the season, that the offense will be a work in progress because the inexperience of the players and Enminger's experiments. What I can also see though, is that we have pieces now (Burrow, Jefferson, Chase, Marshall, Helaire, Hines), and will attain some key pieces next year (Kardell Thomas, Tyrion Davis, Emery/Cain, Rosenthal, Pettigrew), that will launch this offense higher.

The problem then is, do we have the right play caller and QB coach? Cause what I see is a guy who knows that our OL is garbage, calling long developing pass plays. A guy who knows our OL is garbage, putting our QB under center way too much. A guy who knows our OL is garbage, not calling a bunch of quick pass plays, or WR screens. Screens are used by many air raid teams and partly because it's like an extension of the run game. Why are we running so many PA deep passes when we can't block nor run? Ensminger has maybe had one or two good QBs he's coached up his entire college career, and they came during the 90s. Whether he wanted his buddy as the OC, to give him a nice retirement package, to cover his arse for a year because he fired Canada and higher ups were hesitant on him making another big outside hire after the one and done, etc, he needs to let him go or tell him to step down in the off-season. I wouldn't have a got damn problem with O if he got Kendal Briles, Hugh Freeze, or Mike Yurcich here next year to be the OC and let them have complete control of the offense.

Ed just took over. Why does he not get a chance to get his pieces in place? This has nothing to do with next year U.

So how many years in the future will it be fair to judge O?

Some people will just never get it and this quote right here just says it all

Let me guess you remember the 90's? and think Ed is doing a bang up job especially letting Steve E. continue the tradition of no offense.
