All im saying is it concerning we cant run the ball on our second D in goaline offense.
You know, Les used to have scrimmages and the offense would have like 350+ yards passing with deep shots down field. How'd that translate into the season?

That's obviously awful, but it's so hard to really tell anything from summer practices. Some years we think we'll be world beaters at certain positions due to stuff you hear about practice. And then the real games happen.
But yeah, they shouldn't be having 7 runs and no yards against any D. So that is slightly concerning. But again, practice...

All you need to know.
When camp is over CBK/Staff will have compiled a team of lifetakers & heartbreakers. By game day they will be mean nasty & tired. They'll be eating concertina wire & pissing napalm. Improvising, adapting & overcoming adversity. Half way through the 1st quarter CBK is coming out to the hash & telling the Clemson sideline to sit there & bleed a while before they taste some real pain.
Get off my lawn.

Yeah that was primarily because of Jayden Daniels and his unique ability.
Yes, Jayden Daniels is one of the best QB's LSU has ever had and is an insane playmaker.
quote:
We struggled mightily last year with a veteran O line but no mobile qb. Now, that could have been because Jackson put on too much weight and lost his quickness, could have been because we lost Hilton and he truly opened up the defenses to only have 6-7 in the box or at least force them to play deeper passes more conservatively. However you want to look at it, last year was not a good running game from any kind of consistency basis.
Yes, we would spring a long run with Durham, but when we needed a short yardage gain we didn’t get it. It almost seemed like we never got it.
Hopefully our new O Line gels and the “failures” we are hearing about in practice are just because we have an absolutely dominant front 7
In the past 3 seasons, by my count, we've had 22 separate players record a rushing stat.
When you compare the rushing numbers on your 3 deep, it shows a kinda not great trend. Excluding Daniels, of course.
In 2022:
Josh Williams 432, 5.5ypc 6td
Noah Cain 409, 5.4ypc 10td
John Emery 375, 4.9ypc 6td
So just over 1200 yards and 22 td's.
2023:
Logan Diggs 653, 5.5, 7
Josh Williams 284, 5.2, 5
Noah Cain 181, 4.9, 3
1100 yards 15 tds
2024:
Caden Durham 753, 5.4, 6
Josh Williams 482, 4.1, 6
Kaleb Jackson 150, 3.4, 0
1200 yards, 12
That doesn't tell the whole story, naturally. Armoni Goodwin had a better season in 2022 than everybody except for Diggs in 2023, and he probably would have had a good year in 2024 if he had stuck it out. Overall, we had a pretty solid gang of RB's in 2022, and it's just been whittled down to almost nothing.
I just don't think it's solely because of Daniels that our run game wasn't as good. Obviously not having Daniels any longer is going to change everything, and there probably are some things that could be done to help the run game, but to my layman eyes, it seems like our RB's aren't great.
Durham is probably the only RB we've had since 2021 that's got a real chance to stick on an NFL team.

Offense is going to be fine. They are very explosive and are going to make plenty of plays. Now the offensive line is going to take some time to gel and get into a rhythm hopefully we don't have a 2006 performance due to the fast start we need but the offense is going to be fine.
The defense on the other hand all signs are pointing to this being a very successful season for them which would be the first time that has happened in some time. You should be excited about that because the defense is what has held this team back. Does not look like that is going to be the case this year.

Its from the local media’s reports who actually attend practice….

You’re right. Thanks for a normal educated response. I don’t think I’d be as concerned if we had some tune up games but having Clemson on the road is what makes it concerning

Defense travels. This will not be like 2019 by a mile.

Defenses are always ahead of offenses this time of year.
Offense was absolutely housing the D in fall practice the last 2 seasons. This is a real turn-around.
People are putting their head in the sand. And then will bitch game one.

Of note, Will Campbell has been more dominating vs NFL competition than he was at the college level. Maybe it is the coaching.

What’s so disappointing about this is I was under the impression Kelly knew how to build an interior line.

Practice reports and practice stats will never matter vis a vis how good a team is.
Everyone’s excited and devours the news, I get it. But it means nothing for the season, and never has

2019 says hello.

“I think we’re going to score a lot of points, and I don’t think a lot of people are used to LSU scoring 40, 50, 60 points a game," Burrow said via The Advocate at the Manning Passing Academy over the weekend. "I think if we do what we need to do up until fall camp and continue our hard work in fall camp, we can be one of the best offenses in the country.”

Have said this since last year. The OL even with 4 draft picks couldn’t run block. So this year with 4 new players and 1 returner against a tougher schedule unless a major change happens over next 2 weeks doesn’t inspire confidence,
Davis can recruit but hasn’t shown the ability to coach up the talent.

Is it weird we have found a rhyme that is basically a science for helping our neighbors become more efficient with their spelling?
