At the end of the day this is why the offense looked bad. Rb had two games over 100 yards. You run the ball to set up the pass. The line will be improved you know what you can get from JD legs. If the backs can produce the wr’s will be able to feast.

If you can’t run the ball take away the pass. If you can’t pass the ball take away the run. If they over play the pass run the ball. If they over play the run pass the ball.

1. How about you STFU
2. Most are not hating on him, they just think there are other options that are better moving forward.
3. You legit gave the reason why number 2 exists. He WAS the best option in 2022, but unless his throwing improves, he is NOT the best option in 2023.

Ikr...just imagine if he wouldn't hold the ball to long and could read over the middle and down the sidelines, he could have thrown for 5000 yards and LSU would be 12-1 and in the playoff.

If he wasnt a "runner" he would absolutely be TERRIBLE.

NUSS should have started and let the team grow for next year just like we did in most all positions with new player this year.

Conversely - you know you has a LOWER average than all 3? Will Rogers (only 6.6) - in Mike Leach's air raid offense (RIP). Why. . .bc he has 566 attempts!!!

Because State substitutes the short passing game for their running game.
quote:

There are 10 QBs in the SEC this year who have thrown at least 300 times. Their Average is 7.2. JD is 7.5. Is he at the top of the list? No. . . but he is better than average.

Here are the starting QBs for the SEC teams (in order of passing yards):
Will Rogers (State)
Bennett (UGA)
Hooker (Ten)
Young (Bama)
Dart (Ole Miss)
Rattler (SC)
Daniels (LSU)
Cook (Mizzou)
Jefferson (Ark)
Richardson (UF)
Levis (UK)
Ashford (Auburn)
Swann (Vandy)
King (A&M)

Who on that list are future NFL starters? Hooker, Young and Rattler are quality QBs. Bennett is probably a benefactor of a great team around him. Levis is overrated. Rogers is a system QB. Richardson and Jefferson are erratic. It's not a great year for SEC QBs so comparatively, yes, Daniels is above average.

We made a national championship game with two terrible quarterbacks so this is not a good argument.

You’ll have the usuals in here telling you how they “know” (without actual evidence and actual evidence to contrary) that Nuss would have won the national championship this year because reasons.

Or maybe it came down to who didn’t constantly throw it into the hands of defenders.

or, and you can say it out loud..... the guy that doesn't turn the ball over.

Nuss has as many turnovers in 3 games and Daniels did in 13.

But what do we need next year? I don’t think starting him next year is best for the program long term, but I expect he will start no matter what.

Based off what? His interception to TD ratio?

You don’t know what it “best for the team” and neither does anyone else here.

That’s a good problem to have! We have a QB who just won the Sec West coming back. With better o line better receivers, still having good RBs. Sounds like sucess

We also had very good and deep defenses those years as well as a damn strong running game and Olines.

Totally different. Different style of play back then vs now. Back then the QB was irrelevant essentially because we just ran the ball up the middle every play. Or the pwr toss dive. Nice try thanks for playing

I would like to see Daniels share the ball with his teammates a bit more. He tends to regard keeping it as his first option.

JD5 finished 45th in passing yards and tied for 69th in passing TDs this year.

In 9 SEC games he had 10 passing TDs, 3 INTs, and took 33 sacks. Whatcha smoking homie cause I need some of that.

This is completely false and so horribly old school thinking.

You know some coaches still follow this philosophy. If that wasn’t The case you would see way more true Mike leach style attacks. Not the partial elements you see in modern offenses

He was what LSU needed in 2022, but is he what LSU needs in 2023?
