Serious question. - do we have Shaq helping with all this recent funding?
No.
Despite what the media and "LSU basketball fans"...who actually know very little about LSU basketball, or college basketball as a whole (as evidenced by their posts) Wade is a great fundraiser and has engaging personality with both donors and recruits. That is why you are seeing the "lets see how he recruits when everyone can pay recruits" narrative quickly fall apart.
Wade was paying recruits back in 2017-2022 too. But you know who else was doing so? Kansas, Duke, Indiana, UNC, Kentucky, Arizona, etc, etc. In fact, donors of those programs were willing to pay MORE because unlike at LSU, basketball is the major draw at those schools. Yet, Wade was beating them out for blue chip recruits then. It wasn't because Wade was paying far more than everyone else. It's that he was raising enough money to be competitive in that aspect and coupling that with hard work and great salesmanship in the recruits' living rooms.
From 2017-2025 LSU fans got to see a first hand view of what works and what doesn't. McMahon was NOT an engaging personality, he didn't want to get overly involved in the fundraising (in fact, he outsourced at look of that to assistants). He then combined that with awful game coaching. THAT is the blueprint of how you become the worst program in the worst program in the conference for 4 years and why it should be a breath of fresh air for any LSU basketball to have Wade back. Wade may never reach the pinnacle of the sport. But it won't be from lack of effort on the recruiting trail.

And no national folks can bitch that we are paying players.
Sir William Wade has brought so much excitement back to hoops and he hasnt even coached a game yet.

Will Wade makes basketball fun, but yet there are still many that don’t like him.
He is so likable.

If I was a recruit, I would like at how Will Wade is a great coach. I would also look at he was paying some players out of his own pocket to help them and he got crapped on, fired, shunned by everyone. He risked his career taking money out his own pocket to help players /benefit players.
Yeah I’m going with a coach that got my back.

Somewhere (probably a men's bathhouse) Pat Forde just punched a wall. Wade can't keep getting away with this!
