If I had to choose between Boutte being happy and what gives us the best chance to win games, I’m choosing the latter. If Daniels has an opening to run, I want him to take it instead of trying a pass. Do I want Daniels to trust himself more? Yes. But I’m not going to sit here and judge the kid for taking a free shot to the end zone if it’s there. Not someone who can run like him.

JD is a senior and should already be at a level to read defenses and pass to open receivers or even pass to a spot where the receiver will be. He will never be elite. The boat has already sailed.

he play was a good play call, had Boutte in motion gets his man rubbed/picked and runs wide open. Daniels looks his way just briefly but doesn't throw. Instead he immediately looks down and sees rushers coming from his right and runs up the middle for a TD.

I'm not complaining about the TD but I can see why Boutte may get frustrated, play called for him and run to perfection except for our QB actually throwing it when he should have.

Thank God. If you can run it in without depending on an accurate throw, and a catch, and not put the ball in jeopardy of a pick....why the hell would you ever throw it.

And if Boutte is frustrated with his team scoring a TD, I would not care.

If he throws that ball any bit behind Boutte, we are in big trouble. That throw was farm from open and well covered.

Goddamn... If he throws it and the DB breaks on the ball underneath for 99 yd Pick 6, you would be crying about that too.

Exactly … perfect scenario for the OP. Bitch because Daniels didn’t throw and bitch if he throws and it’s picked.

The pass to Boutte was 100% there for the taking. The play call was great and the rub route was run to perfection.

A TD is a TD, but if you want to get technical with it, since he got met head on by a defender at the 3 yard line, the pass to Boutte would have been the better decision.

Went to the screenshots. People who said Boutte was open were right. JD committed to a more tougher play.
All this happens in 2-3 seconds though! It's easy to screenshot though!

Nothing yet

Couldn't have guessed that the defender is going to be tripped

Already committed at this point!

It was a low probability play!

Frick it...we scored!

If Boutte was pissed that we score, sorry, he's not a true team player.

Actually on JDs 5 yd TD run Boutte was the 1st player to run up to him & celebrate the TD.

Agree to disagree. If Daniels thinks he has a td up the middle, I want him taking it. I have more faith in his running ability than his throwing ability. I think he does too. Let him do his thing.

Daniels' ball protection is very helpful, even if Boutte is getting frustrated.

Boutte is such a great athlete and powerful receiver it seems to make sense to get him the ball earlier and see if he's got the magic that night.

The end around went for 41 against Southern but I didn't see us run it against MSU. Maybe a shovel pass? Bubble screen out of triplets? Anything to get him involved quickly and then try to open him up. Idk, there's such great potential in that connection it's a shame they aren't in synch yet.

I'm willing to bet that he gets stuffed by the Bamas and UGAs of the world. Heck, even 8&4. It is low probability!

No way. Boutte has the speed to outrun and catch that dude backwards.

We tried to run it against FSU as well but the snap was bad and fricked up the timing. I don’t think you’ve seen the last of that play call.
