I love posts like this. You are in for quite the treat.
LSU vs Alabama at night with something on the line......No better event in sports.
First, you have to promise to come back after the game and tell us about your experience.
Like others have said, wear something that shows you are on a bucket list trip. Patriots, Celtics, Bruins, Boston College....all are good but throw on an LSU hat for good measure.
Tailgates will be everywhere (you really cant imagine the scope of it all) but I'd stay away from the parade grounds. Mostly college kids there. Try hanging out around the Indian mounds area. Great, established tailgates there and you are in good position for the walk down victory hill, etc..
Just be friendly, let people know you are from Boston on a bucket list trip. Offer to contribute beer or money (it probably wont be accepted) so you can experience a real LSU tailgate.
As far as restaurants, Louisiana Lagniappe is near your hotel and is fantastic LA fare. French Market Bistro is also nearby and is a good LA cuisine choice. Rouge Creole is so so but nearby.
IF you can buy a parking pass, it would be worth getting. Traffic will be insane and there's some shady areas around campus.

Thank you. There is some parking still available from the school. My options are 206, 106, 108, 403, 409, and LA House. Given I'm going to want to head south, I'm thinking one of the last three. Otherwise, I could hit the secondary market for something.

This x10000. You’ve got no idea what you’re in for, brother.
Even those of us who’ve done this dozens of times before will still be worthless at work over the next two weeks daydreaming of that day

If you can get 403, get that one. Two reasons. First, it sets up well for you to exit after the game. You'll be on the right side of campus to get back to your hotel. Just take Nicholson to Bluebonnet to your hotel.
Second reason...there's actually some really good tailgates around 403. I'd start there and then make my way behind the stadium and to the Indian Mounds area.
Have a great time!

5. We do not have a dedicated parking spot. I've heard that we don't need one, but let me know if you feel otherwise. Either way, where should we park and what time should we arrive?
Parking Map Url Attached here:

Coming from Perkins Rowe area, area you should go up Bluebonnet Blvd to Burbank and take Burbank all the way to the Campus area. Leave at about 1:30 so you can get parked and enjoy the tailgating scene.
Where you should park depends on where you will be heading after the game.
If you are going back to Perkins Rowe area: Park in the free lots Old Front Nine 1,2or 3. From there after the game you can get out take a left on Burbank and head back to Bluebonnet and back to Perkins Rowe.
If you are going on to Lafayette: Continue up Burbank to the free Hayfield Lot. There is usually a shuttle bus that runs from Lot 409 at Skip Bertman Field directly to the Stadium.
If you can, exit the Hayfield Lot to Lot 406, by the Softball Stadium and continue to take a left on Skip Bertman Drive. Take a right on River Road and that will take you downtown where you can get on the 1-10 Bridge taking you to Lafayette.
Hope you have a great time!

2. For dinner on Friday night, I've read that The Chimes may be a good option. Do you agree? Do they take reservations? Anywhere else?
Friday night I highly recommend Parrain's on Perkins (C'est ce bon!).
Chimes, to me, is a Gameday drink and eat stop - great bloody mary's wink wink. Plus you can keep up with other games on the TVs. Just dont spend all your day there because you didnt travel that far to sit in a bar... good lunch stop.

Don’t waste your time at Chimes.
It’s a “tradition” sure. But you’re spending an hour in line for bar food and some drinks.
Take the opportunity to enjoy our beautiful campus on a wonderful fall day. Get a cooler backpack, fill it with drinks.
Walk around and talk to people, especially tailgaters. Tell them your story and you’ll get food and drinks shoved at you. Then, move on down to the next group.
For food on Gameday, there are several spots you can hop in and grab something quick. If you want good Louisiana food, eat the night before and the day after at the many restaurants people have been suggesting.
Don’t waste any time in a bar, when you can get the full experience for free a block away.
and welcome

Pastime is a good choice for lunch and they have a shuttle to and from the game. $12 for round trip. They start running early enough to catch the band marching down Victory Hill, which is cool. They then go inside the PMAC (open to the public) and perform. It’s right next to Mike’s habitat, too.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

You can walk to one of the best seafood places in town, Louisiana Lagniappe
Agree with shirts. Maybe get matching purple or gold and have them printed with bucket list?
You should have no problem being fed if you walk around and visit tailgates.
Not encouraging drinking and driving but make sure you leave a beverage for after the game. We usually just sit in our lot for an hour instead of traffic.
Make sure you see Mike the Tiger and the team walk down Victory Hill
There's a slight chance maybe SEC nation comes back to town if you listen to some people on this board
Plenty of free parking if you get there early.
There is a full service grocery store on campus

We will be out there Friday night tailgating and getting ready. Hit me up. You can come by if you want. We will accept you with open arms. Also you can tailgate with us Saturday if you want. I have a few people coming from Texas who have never been to tiger stadium so I will be taking them to the things that you take first timers too. Band walking down the hill. Mikes cage etc. hit me up if you want. Bwaguillard@gmail.com

Others may disagree, but I would suggest wearing the gear of your team. People tend to appreciate the bucket list thing and you will be well received.
Some Oregon fans showed up to the A&M Game a few years ago. They walked by our tailgate on the Parade Ground. That's all it took.

They had a blast at our tailgate. This is great advice.

Chimes rooftop patio is a very nice place to dine when the weather is nice and for my money has one of the best tasting hamburgers.
Also Tsunami downtown has the best view in Baton Rouge at night of the river and buildings. The sushi is average but the view and the drinks make up for it.
Louie's breakfast on West State Street is very good (Get the Mitchell) as well as their hamburger The Big Cheesy LOU.
Bring you a flask full of whiskey
If your sitting in the upper decks I would get there early b/c it takes a while to get up to your seats from what I can remember and you might miss the pregame festivities..(band, fireworks, cannon blast etc)
Have fun

A couple of thoughts. Looks like you will have a party of 5-6.
I traveled with a party of 6 for TAM 2019 game.
First of all, I lack patience. It may be difficult getting a table anywhere around campus Friday evening.
We got a parking pass for the garage near the Student Union. Easy walk through the LSU Quad takes you to the stadium.
Lastly, just soak in what could be the most fanatical sporting event, you will ever see, with your family.

Get to campus no later than noon. Like, parked and out of your vehicle by noon. Walk around and take it all in. Like others have said, wear your local CFB team colors. You will be noticed and we will know whats going on
.
Get over to the PMAC/ Mikes Habitat/ North Stadium Drive area about 2 hours before kickoff. The team will come down Victory Hill first, followed by the band. DO NOT MISS THIS!! After the band is finished and goes into the stadium, go ahead and make your way into the stadium. This will give you PLENTY of time to hit the consessions, use the rr, and get to your seats to watch a little warm-up. That will have you primed and ready for Callin Baton Rouge and Pre-Game.
Dont forget to update us after the game on how your trip was.

Any tips on where to park if coming from NO? Heading back after the game. Tried to purchase parking off the LSU site, but nothing seems to be available.

I’d go to the LSU bookstore for gear and gifts.
Coffee Call on College drive on Sunday morning. Bags of beignet fingers and cafe’ au lait.
The LSU website has a schedule of events so you can tell when the band comes down etc.
