It has nothing to do with the state of the program. I’ve been through worse. I’m just tired, man. Game attendance requires a whole day commitment, mainly because I live in NO. The expense and the traffic don’t make much sense anymore. High definition TV is a wonderful thing. My youngest kid is a senior at LSU, but seems to have no interest in me hanging onto the tickets.

Wondering if there are others like me.

Cheers.

I just got season tickets in 2018 after wanting them for a long time. I'm nearly 60. My wife wasn't sure we wanted the expense but now loves going to the games.

I live in Lafayette. If I had tickets for a decade or more, I might feel the same as you but it is still fairly new for us so I am not there yet. My son is about to graduate from LSU and we may actually pick up two more tickets to accommodate him sitting with us. I know he or my daughter will want at least a pair once we are ready to let them go if they are living nearby.

At some point in the next decade I suspect my age and or health will push me toward giving them up. Until then I will not let any political BS or even the teams performance to keep me from attending and being a fan.

Whatever else you are, Slippy, and whomever's buttons you are pushing at the moment , I have never doubted you are an LSU fan and I know making that decision will be hard for you.

YOU are the reason for the change in atmosphere

You need to re-read your own words multiple times. The atmosphere was changed before anyone quit attending. We hired a HC that absolutely no one else was bidding for. And now he can't get anyone to work for him. Then we became one of VERY few open-air stadiums that required masking and vaccine proof in the entire country.

People spending thousands on the day should not be lectured to, nor watch a half-assed effort on the field, or spend an hour in the car to get home because of poor leadership decisions.

Tailgating is fun but it's a young man's game. Unless you are rich enough to pay someone to set up and break it down it's going to be a pain in the arse. I love LSU games and tailgating but the older you get it's a lot of hassle. I know some some bucks on here are gonna say I'm crazy but I was just like you when a little younger. I couldn't understand why people went to tailgate and not go to the games... but now I do. Less stress.. costs less etc. I had season tickets for about 15 years and loved it but a certain "damn strong" coach chased me away.

I was one of the original TAF members and had them for years, still have a stack of tickets that I couldn't give away from the Hallman-DiNardo plague era, it was TAF and their mafioso ways that made me give them up, I always go to a game or two every year, including the three most recent nc games, most of my friends from LSU that have had family tailgates for years have given them up too, we're just getting old I guess

I had a streak of 17 straight years of not missing a home starting in the Dinardo era, but have also gone to most of the home games since the mid 80's. Once my streak came to an end I realized that it doesn't bother me at all to miss homes games, particularly the 3-4 crappy games we have every year.

My kids are getting older and are involved in so much that by the time the weekends rolls around I just don't have the energy to deal with a gameday. I'll make an effort for the big games but I'm always down for cooking at home for the others.

Tailgating is killing LSU football. People could just actually go to the football game without making it a full day production and leave in the 3rd quarter of the Auburn game for crying out loud.

Getting drunk by 2pm for a 6pm has to be exhausting. How about just go to the game and not do all the stuff for 8 hours prior?

Totally understand! As you get older, it becomes a hassle especially with the parking and after game traffic. I think others have noticed something else- the passion and craziness seems to have been sinking for some time now. Don't know if it is the current generation being too 'woke' to care, but there is a different attitude today. I think other schools are going to start seeing the same issues. Live college football Saturdays was once the greatest thing anywhere, but not anymore. Even if we didn't have every game on TV in HD, you look at covid, wokeness & even op-outs leaving deep scars in what was once a wild, crazy fun event. This would be a great live discussion, hard to say everything in writing...

My counter point is, people have been doing this for decades with no issue. Traffic & more butts in the seats after a few expansions really is the killer. If you could get out in 15-20 mins, no one would leave early.

I understand, my first year of season tickets was 1958..the Upper South from the scoreboard westward was mostly kids. The poor adults sitting among us. Since I don't live in BR any longer and most of my family has passed on, I gave mine up. I think the size and scope of the crowd has also played a part...great memories are what I have left.

my greatest memories of games in TS are from my younger days before LSU football became such a business, people were passionate as hell, no one left the game early, the entire crowd chanting in unison "go to hell Ole Miss go to hell!" as they left the stadium after the game was over, regardless of who we just played and who we were playing next simpler times, too much of everything these days have diluted the Tiger game day experience, imo

Allow me to clarify my original post a little bit.

I have tickets in the south upper and in the east upper (on the 45). The ones in the SEZ come with a hefty Tradition Fund charge. I also pay $400 for parking. For several years I had a regular buyer for the SEZ seats who would also pick up the TF. That person bailed last year, and now I can't find anyone to pay the whole package. I feel like the TF is a huge ripoff and I don't want to pay it any longer.

My brother-in-law may keep buying the east upper tickets from me, and if so, I'll keep those. They are cheaper and have no TF or TAF surcharge.

Same and tailgating crowd was as many as 60 to 70. Now or pre covid maybe 8 to 10. For me it wasn't as much fun without the people. It is a lot of work for just a handful of people. I have let all of my season tickets go with the exception of Gymnastics for my wife. I am not saying I will never tailgate again or attend games, I am not going to be committed to entire seasons anymore. I am thinking about just attending roads games mainly.

Yes same here, just hope their is a True, Loyal, Intense football knowledgeable fans that out there like we we’re in our Prime, what I wouldn’t give to be 30s again, waiting on LSU new hire and follow this regime into Tiger Stadium, up all night, hoarse, and winning. Don’t feel bad you remain loyal there is some hopefully young bucks ready to take over!

I totally Understand an I did the same thing 2 years ago, 8 season tickets on the 40. They need to speed up the game. Way to many TV timeouts. They should have left the stadium at 70,000, because that is all that is there.

My uncle has had 6 tickets in the NEZ since 1996. It was literally my favorite memory as a kid going with my dad and his brother to games in Tiger Stadium. Probably made that trek 30+ times from Kansas to Louisiana from 1998-2016. Have taken my own friends who are fans of schools from all over the country to enjoy it as well.

I haven't set foot in TS since 2016 Bama when the Tigers lost 10-0. Not intentional, it's just that kids and family and work all get in the way. Never thought that would be the case before I was in that boat.

There is nothing like the magic of Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night, but I can easily see how the luster has worn off, especially since 2019 and especially every weekend. It will come back, but it needs a product worthy of it. I can't wait to be back there for it.

The idea of LSU season tickets is awesome… It has got to take a considerable commitment of time and energy.

When I was in junior high school I worked part time for a small company. The owner had season tickets on the west side on the 45 and could not find people to go the games with him so I went. At that time it was spectacular. We were able to park at the track stadium and tailgating was everywhere. I stayed with his company until I graduated from LSU. My wife(no pics) had season tickets but the parking situation became worse over time and sitting in traffic on Highland Road that did not move for and hour or so got to be old fast. Our seats were in the west side upper deck and if I stood up I could see Lafayette. I realized that it might take decades to get better seats.
So I let those seats go to the owner,LSU. After reading everyone's replies it seems that LSU is not listening to the fans. The issues are:
1.Tailgating
2.Parking
3.Traffic
4. Creampuff rent a wins.

LSU needs to address these problems or they are in danger of killing the Goose that lays the Golden Eggs. Oh, replacements? The younger generation is too worried about paying their student debt and/or not really interested in college football and hate traditions and Real history. So LSU may have trouble selling season tickets in the near future.
