I remember it very well. All those A&M defenders chasing Kinchen like a pack of dogs when he cut across the field. Kinchen was a hell of an athlete.
I also remember the bs offensive pass interference call against Vandy in the last seconds that cost us the game.

One of the classiest Tigers of all time. While playing for the StL Rams, he agreed to come over for some good ole home cookin LA style Jambalaya and have a sit down with 15 boys and their Dads as Indian Guides (YMCA program). He was so positively engaged With these young boys making a life long impression on them. And he lauded my wife’s jambalaya which made her a lifetime fan. Just an all around great Man.

No announcer could get as excited for the Tigers as Jim Hawthorne.

I wonder, if LSU had gone 6-5 instead of 5-6 that season, would they have kept Archer around? He was definitely bad, especially at recruiting from what I've heard. But he couldn't have been worse that three stooges guy

His home in Zachary is available on Airbnb, or at least it was. I stayed there when I came in town for a game a couple years ago. Might have geeked out and put on his helmet. Nice place.

My Dad (w/ Coach Hinton + Coach Wicker) was his head coach in 3rd/4th grade - Our Lady of Mercy Rams. He could throw a K2 football some ungodly distance in 3rd grade. I understand one can only evaluate talent so much for someone that age, but Dad always knew he'd be the most talented person he ever had or would coach.

I am going to try to post a photo on this thread later, of the team. Would have been around 1978.
