1. Georgia
2. Alabama
3. Michigan
4. Ohio State
5. Penn State
6. Florida State
7. LSU

quote:

Remember when LSU was quietly mentioned as possibly be one of the SEC's surprise teams last summer under Brian Kelly? All that positive stock was sold following the season-opening loss to Florida State before folks started coming around again. The Tigers would go on to win the SEC West and now get transfer quarterback Jayden Daniels back for another campaign, strengthening the SEC's deepest room at the position. Linebacker Harold Perkins is the SEC's top returning defender and it's not particularly close.

8. USC
9. Washington
10. Oregon
11. Clemson
12. Tennessee
13. Notre Dame
14. Texas
15. TCU
16. Utah
17. Kansas State
18. Oregon State
19. UCLA
20. Texas Tech
21. South Carolina
22. Texas A&M
23. Oklahoma
24. Ole Miss
25. Tulane

Michigan, Penn State, and Ohio State all in top 5 is laughable.

revisionist history - everyone knew LSU was a 7/8 win team max. The "positive stock" was more like confirmation bias after FSU.

So is USC. Texas and TAMU have no business being in the top 25 until they prove something. USC is never a top 10 team and that's a constant for almost 20 years now. They barely scrap top 25 in most years and that's mainly because of media desperately wanting them to be relevant.

Michigan is going to lose Harbaugh to NFL and they'll probably have a big exodus in spring portal. Penn State has no business sniffing a top 5 ranking. They're not that talented. Maybe around 10 or so. Ohio State has the talent but putting all 3 of those in the top 5 is laughable.

There were a number of talking heads that were mentioning LSU under Kelly as a team that could be much better than people realized before the season started. There was mention of how well he did in the portal.

That is a surprise team, the article didn't say anything about people suggesting LSU would win the SEC or even the west.

I just hope that if we lose the opener our fans can learn from this year and know that it has absolutely no impact on our playoff chances

USC is trash for most of the 21st century excluding the first few years. I think the medias attempts over the years to have them ranked so high and always praising them are due to the need for a football presence on the west coast. West of Texas there aren’t any traditional football powers, nor are there any teams with a history close enough to usc’s to take over the medias golden boy on the west coast. So, year after year, hype them up when you can (preseason) and when they do something average during the season, praise them even more, in hopes that some fair weather college fans cling to USC and create a nonexistent revenue stream for the media.

If we lose our first game I could see us pulling a Texas A&M game again.
Florida State is a good team but they still lost to Wake Forest, Clemson, and NC State.

We need to beat FSU if we want to get where we are going.

Yeah ND just got one of the best returning QB’s in college football. Finished winning 6 of their last 7 games and pulled a top 8 recruiting class.

The big ten is 3-7 in the playoffs, just got two teams in and both got bounced. Can we please stop this nonsense of pretending they are good?

Last year has no bearing on FSU this year. They're a different team with almost all their key cog pieces back.

I agree. If we lose to FSU we aren’t competing for a SEC title is what I’m trying to say.
