Piecing together the schedule with what we know so far

9/1 USC (Las Vegas)

9/7 Nicholls

9/14 @ South Carolina

9/21 UCLA

9/28 South Alabama

10/5

10/12

10/19

10/26 @ Texas A&M

11/2 Probable BYE

11/9 Alabama

11/16

11/23

11/30 likely Oklahoma or @Arkansas

Other opponents on the schedule

At Arkansas
At Florida
At South Carolina
Oklahoma
Ole Miss
Vanderbilt

11/30 is already taken for Florida, Ole Miss and South Carolina rivalry weeks. Tennessee typically closes out the year with Vanderbilt or Kentucky but Kentucky has Louisville scheduled for rivalry week so we can probably rule out Vanderbilt. That leaves us with Oklahoma or Arkansas for rivalry week.

We'll have 2 bye weeks next year

*of our unannounced opponents, only South Carolina doesn't have a game scheduled for 9/14. There's our SEC opener.

*Florida isn't available for 10/5
*Arkansas isn't available for 11/16
*Oklahoma isn't available for 11/23

Can we stop playing A&M every year and keep playing our tradition rivals such as Auburn or Florida.

With Texas joining it changes everything. LSU will play a Texas school on a rotation enough times to help with recruiting Texas high school players. Playing A&M every year is meaningless.

I will go on record here as predictIng that the thanksgiving weekend game will be Oklahoma @ LSU. I have been telling ppl this and they tell me I am crazy.

OU vs LSU is a marquee game they will need to fill in during the middle of the season slate. SEC already has too many big matchups the last week. Arkansas/LSU is just right

I’m ok with eliminating the bye before bama.

Oklahoma has Alabama on 11/23, if they play us 11/30 that will be a brutal back to back for them

Damn man. 12 months out and with 10+ years on that job and you can’t work a shift?

I could easily take off but I’d rather spend that vacation time for actual vacation

The bye week hasn't helped LSU before Bama. We need to play that week and schedule the bye, say after Nicholls.

Where do yall position the other bye week assuming we take our traditional bye before Bama?

So does that mean Arkansas will go back to being the season ender?

We actually had TWO bye weeks in 2013-- after Furman and before Bama (Nov. 2), and after Bama and before Aggies and Johnny Football (Nov. 16). That's the only year I remember with two byes, though there were probably others

Disagree. Our record vs Bama is as good or better than everyone in the division since Saban took over.

Personally I’d prefer the bye right after Bama but I don’t think having it before makes a difference in that game. It’s going to be an uphill battle no matter when the bye is until Saban retires.

Oklahoma State

I think the in state rivalry will still be strong but the SEC will advise on a push to get them playing in a different time of the season. Maybe season opener.

We need a bye week desperately on 10/5, after that brutal opening 5 game stretch (don't laugh, South Alabama is a holy load- just ask Okie St this year) and another bye between Aggies and Bama.

It looks like our schedule is formulated to accommodate two byes!

Well OU-UT will play each other in October like they always do. UT-ATM on thanksgiving day again. It’s LSU-OU thanksgiving weekend.

They're playing the Saturday after Thanksgiving. SEC/ESPN likely don't want that one going up against the NFL.

You’re not crazy. It’s the only possible annual game that weekend if the SEC does go to the 3-6 schedule. Arkansas won’t be a permanent opponent in that setup, so it could only be OU. I think it’s more likely that they alternate Arkansas and OU (and Missouri does the same).

Damn they moved the bama game back a week. 10 years of shift work and I’ve always been off the weekend of bama. Now I’m going to have to work

Always having the bye week the week before Alabama always meant that it fell on opening day of rifle season too. Now it probably won’t.
