This is getting out of hand this year. I can’t remember a year where the umpires have been this bad. I just rewatched the clip where the pitcher got tossed for Florida. That was some bull shite and I’d lose my mind if that was an LSU player.

And maybe this is just me…. But balls and strikes have been absolutely atrocious. I hated the idea about having robots in the game, but if this is what we are going to see from here on out… count me in for the robots.

I believe it’s a SEC thing. Strike zones have been consistently bad every weekend. I don’t think it’s limited to Baton Rouge.

One of the hardest & most under appreciated jobs known to man. They don’t get anything but hate

It is. They were already bad to start, but now they're being graded using trackman and they're up in their heads about it and even worse.

They're squeezing guys and having inconsistent zones. Everyone is throwing more pitches, and doing so at a faster clip (though I like the clock) than they used to.

I think it's too many changes at once.

There isn't a single umpire in the SEC that has demonstrated a reason why they should be appreciated or get anything but hate.

They're all bad at their jobs and extremely thin-skinned about it. When given the opportunity to frick something up, they always take it.

The zones during the South Carolina series were some of the tightest strike zones I've seen in college baseball.

Good point and likely a key factor

I don’t mind the tight zones, I don’t like it but whatever. The problem is the inconsistency. It’s all over the place and not just SEC games. Every game I’ve watched this year has had moving strike zones even at times in the same at-bat. It’s unreal.

I just realized my post was a little ambiguous. But I think it could be a factor both ways.

Guys are throwing harder, meaning the ball is harder to see.

Guys are throwing at smaller time intervals, meaning the umpire has less time to collect themselves.

You also now have the HP ump in charge of timekeeping, further dividing his attention. Like I said too many changes at once.

I think you'll get a lot more of it with the electronic strike zones. There will still be umpires, so now they will police that more often since their other job was taken away

I have watched several non-LSU games, and the umpires are consistently bad all over the country. Not quite sure what to attribute that to, but it’s happening outside of BR.

I think this is one of those solutions that makes the problem it's trying to fix worse. The strikezones have been frustrating this year because Umps are trying to be perfect, which makes them razor tight. They're all too afraid to expand the zone because they are being judged by AI.

He could have warned the coach imo. But taunting another player on an opposing team is considered unsportsman like conduct. This warrants an ejection. Maybe players need to stop acting like little kids and be a fricking man.

I didn’t see the florida pitcher do anything wrong. I’ve seen pitchers do a whole lot worse than just trash talk some. There was no reason for that kid to be kicked out the game. But i do agree, at worst he should have gotten a warning and tell the coach to relay the message

Absolutely. Too many changes for both the players AND umpires. Results in what we’re seeing across the board.

I love baseball, but its time for the electronic strike zone.

Agree with your points. Is it the home plate ump in charge of the clock or the third base ump (or is one for the batter and one for the pitcher)?

People are upset of the strike zone because umps are trying to match up with electronic strike zones. Get used to even more free passes with an electronic zone.
