I would love to get Josh Minott if he doesn’t stay in the draft. Cody Toppert recruited him to Memphis so I would think we’d be on his shortlist.

I’d even prefer him over KJ Williams. Minott has breakout potential similar to Tari Eason.

We are going to be pretty legit next year. This staff has been pretty impressive since coming in.

Just give me Miller and KJ, and I will be happy.

That would be an upper half SEC team IMO.

Yeah. Who would have wanted that roster Wade was putting together for the 22-23 season.

You do realize CMM has only been here a few month right? If he is able to get Miller, Phillips to stay and already kept Williams who was highly recruited here as well. In addition to Ward and others, this could be the craziest turnaround college basketball has seen in a long time. Especially with the pending bs Wade got us into.

If we pull those two and the 2 frosh are the real deal we'll be far better than this past season.

Losses against South Carolina , good coaching, no black cloud? Those costs?

Really wish we could have a basketball thread without a pointless Will Wade pissing match.

I loved Wade, and was really excited about the future of the program. But shite happened and he got in trouble. At the end of the day, he’s not here anymore, and he won’t be back. So let’s just move forward and get excited about the job McMahon is doing to revamp this team. It’s been strong so far and Whispers are starting to circulate that he ain’t done yet.

Anybody have info on how likely it is that LSU will cut scholarships this year? If so how many? 1 or 2?

CMM clearly knew more about his potential at LSU than any if us LSU fans did!!

Apparently CMM believes he can compete in the SEC immediately when most of us (& every1 else 2) thought he would be just a placeholder to get thru sanctions.

I thought there might be some smoke to it. Hopefully there isn't.

3 more scholarships available to go along with the 10 currently on the roster could be VERY good news.

It’s easier to take a chance on a coach when their are likely sanctions looming. He has at least recruited well enough to not be an auto W for the rest of the conference. Time will tell. Hopefully we can get another quality big.
As a way too early prediction I would assume 6-9 conference wins.

Looks solid so far. We could really use some scoring ability though, looking at you Adam Miller. I'll be interested to watch him either way next year, I think his reputation got too big with everybody imagining how good last year's team would've been with a healthy Miller. We could use another big guy on the roster as well. Looks like we'll have competitive SEC roster, which is incredible considering we had every player in the portal at one point.

Didn't I see something that said Reid was going to Gonzaga? Don't believe Miller will come here unless he is getting some good money. K.J. Williams is the one I want.

The roster right now has:

3 solid mid-major performers looking to see if their games can translate at the power conference level

2 experienced power conf. transfers who fell out of favor with their former teams

2 returning role players likely hoping to expand their roles this season

2 highly ranked (top 75) HS signees

1 mid-major level HS signee

There is far more unknown that known at this time. But on personnel potential alone it probably looks like a roster than can generally be competitive in the SEC, though not likely to be a top 1/2 SEC team. Of course, that is subject to change with 3 more spots available.

If LSU can add Miller and KJ Williams that probably gives this roster a CHANCE to finish in the top 1/2 of the SEC next season (though not on the level of Kentucky, Arkansas, Auburn, and Tennessee). Any kind of NCAA Tournament expectations without first seeing the staff coach a game, nor seeing how this completely reconstructed roster works together would be unreasonable.

LSU men under CMM in 22 and LSU women under CKM in 21 could be back to back biggest 1 year turnarounds.........

Absolutely disagree. With Miller and KJ we have a better roster than last year and are definitely top 1/2 of the SEC and can be in contention for a high finish. At that point we should be favored to make the tournament Your assessment of the roster seems pessimistic on every point.

I’m not sure I agree , but the national media would have an aneurysm if it was lol

On the flip side, the Wade haters would be insufferable
