Project, when do players have to sign by? Is the timeline shorter now with the later draft?
I haven't found that information yet. Still looking. I've heard that college coaches really don't like the draft being later though.
ETA: I saw Maurice Hampton was added to the BA500 with the explanation that he's draft eligible for this year. I didn't think that would be the case, but apparently the timing of his transfer out is what made him eligible. Also learned that he's playing in the Northwoods League this summer.

It really only "benefited" the 16 teams playing in Supers who no longer have to deal with that awkward moment of someone getting drafted in a the middle of an inning. I didn't like the timing then but this doesn't mesh well at all with the transfer portal deadline or when coaches make moves.

August 1 is the date I saw previously.
Unless there is something regarding withdrawing from school that isn’t mentioned in the general draft rules the only thing I can think of that would make Hampton eligible would be if he was able to enroll and officially be considered a juco player.

I just saw the August 1 date in a Baseball America article.
The other info I'm trying to nail down is whether or not the COVID year guys will count against the 40 man limit.
Originally, the rules that were going to be in effect for the 2021 season were that guys like Beck and George wouldn't have counted against a limit. Then they removed the limit altogether.
If the rules still allow the COVID year guys to not count, then Hilliard and Fontenot wouldn't even go agains the 40 man limit. And it could be an avenue to keep someone like Braden Doughty around (if he wants to stick around) since he wouldn't count against the limit and is a walk on.

Milazzo is now listed on the roster for the Sanford River Rats in the Florida League. Crews mentioned in a radio interview recently that Milazzo would be joining them in Florida.
Dugas is back on the inactive roster for that team after being taken off completely. So it's not out of the questions that he gets some reps with them.

I wonder what number Berry is going to wear

I wonder if Matt Clark may finally be coming back as an undergrad assistant soon.

I don't think Julia would give up her gig.

Tyler McManus committed to LSU today per rivals. He’s a catcher from Samford. Puts us at 51/40. Will update more tomorrow.

Matt got completely screwed out of being on the Mexico Olympic team. Damn shame. He’s still raking

This is good news. Gives some insurance, if not a starter that can hit, behind the plate. We may luck out with Moller and/or Jensen. Milazzo may develop. But, I don't think we could afford to pass up McManus and be left with what we had last year when the goal is to win now.

If I get time this weekend, I might add Berry and McManus stats from last year to our stats and take away Beloso and Milazzo's stats and see how we would have compared to other SEC teams. It obviously would be a great rise.

We also picked up a transfer from San Francisco named Eric Reyzelman. He’s a pitcher. I’ll have more info tomorrow.
