Why would that talking point emerge before another possible NY6 game and an 11th win? 11 wins would be his best season as a HC.

I said last year we should be a 10-2 team but we'd lose one we shouldn't.

This year I think we should be an 11-1 team, and I'm such a believer in Burrow and this defense I think we may actually pull it off. Just don't see how this staff can't just stay out of the way enough to let this team do what it's capable of.

UT and A&M don't scare me with all they lose. I

The Florida MSU Auburn stretch is the key, with Florida obviously being the most dangerous. Make it out of that three week stretch without a slip up and we're 11-1 AT LEAST and top 5 knocking on the door of the CFP.

I just don't think I see Burrow losing at home this year, he's too locked in and feeds off the crowd. That makes me confident that this is the year Mullen doesn't pull off the upset.

Mark me down for 11-1

If your scenario comes true and the two losses are close/competitive, then I believe the fan base will be content with a 10-2 regular season.

10 wins is the absolute bare minimum for this season to even be in the discussion for being a success.

2 losses means LSU lost to a team they shouldn't have, which happens. A 2nd loss to a team they shouldn't have without a win over Alabama isn't acceptable (I.e. 3+ losses).

Also, LSU cannot get blown out by Alabama again. They really need to keep it a one score game, at the very minimum.

So, is it your opinion they shouldn't have, or are you going by Vegas lines. You don't know what actual game time spreads will be yet. This past year, they lost a couple road games where the pointspread was 1-3 points. I consider "shouldn't" to be at least a 7 point favorite, and that's still expected to be a close game.

This is my opinion. LSU is a more talented team than everyone except for Alabama in 2019.

You're on record saying 3 losses is a fireable offense. So it sounds like you agree with me.

He has had to build the trenches back up, as well as get some qb talent. Was a special teams fumble/defensive breakdown at a&m from a 11 win this season, with a team full of inexperience. Still managed #6 finish.

I'm not scared. 10-2 is floor. Barring injury I believe lsu will win 11 games in regular season for third time in history. 9-3 is firable.

I don’t think it would be unfair to question if that is the ceiling if we fail to reach our potential for the 4th consecutive year.

Sure 10-2 would be a good solid year and a lot of fun, but this team has the potential for so much more.

The 16 team missed out on a Sugar bowl because of a loss to a decimated Florida team at home.

17 missed NY6 because of the Troy debacle. Again, at home.

18 made NY6 but didn’t seize it outright because of a loss to A&M and the embarrassment against Alabama. Shutout, at home. Luckily enough teams lost and we were deemed a better draw than WSU, but we also got stuck playing in the last pick bowl against a non P5 school instead of the more marquee matchup against Michigan (which actually benefitted the team because that would have been a tougher game and maybe we don’t get that 10th win otherwise).

If this team with a proven veteran at QB, loaded defense, and a very favorable schedule once again comes up short of their potential, why wouldn’t people be justified in questioning if the right people are in charge?

Any one of those seasons in a vacuum isn’t “bad” necessarily. But taken as a whole body of work it is underwhelming at best and troubling at worst.

Combine that with a likely rebuilding year in 2020 and the question would deserve serious consideration.

Florida and Texas A&M are more likely.

Auburn's defensive line is better than anyone in the nation. They'll have a really good secondary too. That said, I'm not too sure what to expect from their offense/quarterback. I see that the Malik Willis kid just transferred. They'll be a challenge for sure.

so the OP thinks we go 11-1, lose to Bama, not win the West, but yet we make the playoffs?

Won't happen. Two teams from the same conference making the playoffs is rare - it's happened once in the 5 years of the playoffs.

And I think the chances of it happening for us are very small.

If we beat Texas on the road (who could likely win the Big XII) and also beat Auburn, Florida, and A&M--with our only loss being to Bama IN Tuscaloosa--we're in. Book it.
