ok to start with you left off Darcy. With him we have a full squad at 13 scholarships unless someone else leaves. If no one else leaves then this is the starting lineup for the first game:
PG Branden Jenkins JC transfer
SG Antonio Blakeney
SG Brandon Sampson
PF Craig Victor
PF Duop Reath
If Sampson still can't hit a shot then Patterson will see a lot of playing time and maybe start. If Skylar Mays can overcome the freshmen adjustment thing then he will see a lot of playing time and maybe eventually start. Hayward is another Australian and a total unknown factor until we see him in some games. He has looked good in his highlights reel but everyone looks good in their highlight reel. Hopefully he can come in off the bench and hit some shots.
After that not much hope. Robinson is too slow and doesn't have stamina. Epps can shoot but not much else. Bridgewater I actually think is better than most think and will see some time on the low blocks simply because at least he will play there and knows what to do. He is just too short. Darcy might surprise us all and come in a much improved rebounder and defensive player, then again he might not. Sims seems too small to do much on the major college level and is a freshmen with much to learn.
So individually not so impressive except for Blakeney and perhaps Victor. But here is where they can improve on this years team. They can develop some chemistry, play team ball and give maximum effort. If they can do this they will at least be competitive. After that it is up to the basketball gods and they might get lucky. Stranger things have happened.

They should be good enough to finish top 4 in the SEC again. Depending if they win their non-conference games will determine if they make the tournament or not.

I am just not sure why we would recruit so many freaking guards. We only have a handful of big men and they are all PF's at best, not Centers.
CJJ has recruited to the system he wants to play. He wants to play 3-4 guards all the time. Big centers don't really have a place on the team, which is a reason why Elbert has struggled so much.

If Robinson, sims and Patterson are 3 of the starting 5 next year will be even more of a disaster

Mays, Sampson, victor...
I'd start Epps.
Fifth guy...bridgewater, reath???
Five hard fouls per game from both Elbert and Darcy would be a plus. Patterson off bench. Maybe sims contributes.
Would love for blakeney to return. With him I don't automatically assume jones is fired next year. Wouldn't be surprised if blakeney decides to leave.
Will these guys buy in? Will they play hard? Team chemistry can do wonders. I'm not ready to throw in the towel on Johnny as a coach.
This year was painful. Expect next year to be better

Sorry, not to disrespect your opinion, but honestly my common sense just can't accept it.

Maybe JJ will find another tuba player?

19 or 20 win team imo. Another bubble team

I expect a few players to transfer. Jones better find some graduate transfers or something.

I know they are keeping an ear to the ground hoping to pick up 1 or 2. Should have gone after Jarreau last year.
Eta- we are going to suck next year abd i have no clue when we'll be good again.

Optimism is an overstatement. More accurately, I think this year was so disappointing and out of Jones experience/skill set that next year has to be better.
I do think the potential for better chemistry could yield better results.
I'll go w a skip Bertman saying. Play the best 9, not the 9 best. Five guys playing as one would be better than the 5 best individuals on the court this year.

Lets be honest, this team won't be very good. Blakeney is making a huge mistake if he comes back. NBA scouts know what he was faced with, and will overlook his early season struggles.
Besides Mays, Johnny is bringing in North Texas level talent. This is a coach that is supposed to be bringing in multiple top 100 recruits every year. Tommy Amaker at HARVARD smoked Johnny Jones in recruiting this year. HARVARD.
Let's look at the positive, it will be Johnny Jones last season after the Tigers finish in the bottom 4 of the SEC. Joe Alleva will have his 3RD CHANCE at hiring a men's basketball coach, at least this time he should be able to get Brown and Temple to keep their mouth shut.

It isn't about what will happen next season, it is about whether or not he gets drafted this year or next

The SEC does stink but LSU will stink more. Look for 4-14 with this team which fortunately will be the end of the CJJ error (era).

Does Del Perio have any eligibility left?
