If they met first half of season, nod to 2011. Notice how the offense struggled against Auburn in the slop + against that defensive line.

Second half of season, 2019 all the way.

2011 might have been the better team If we had a better QB. Lee was efficient but played it safe. JJ was limited passing the ball.

Defense and ST were dominate

The 2011 defense was out of this world. But our QB play and offensive scheme was not good. I know we dominated a lot of people but they weren’t as good as advertised. Plus our D and special teams helped a lot. We didn’t get a single first down the entire first half of the SECCG, a record that still stands today.

We were trailing Arkansas 14-0 before storming back with 3 TD’s before halftime.

And we were trailing Georgia 10-0 with NO first downs made in the 1st half.

It’s pretty astonishing how the defense clamped down and how laughable the finals scores ended up being.

Had the 2011 team won the title, how close would these teams be when comparing?
Close but 2019 was record breaking historically good.

Go watch the SEC championship game in 2011 when Jordan Jefferson had something like 4 completions for 40 yards.

No fricking chance that team could hang with Joe and that offense.

2011 defense could score 3 times and 2019 still wins by two scores

Had LSU won in 2011, very, very close in comparison.

Really, it's the SECCG/playoffs in 2019 that make the difference.

That 2011 team went undefeated vs. the SEC in the regular season AND beat BOTH the Pac-12/Rose Bowl champ (Oregon) and Big East/Orange Bowl champ (West Virginia)...away from home. Had LSU beaten Alabama in the BCSCG, they would have gone 4-0 vs. the rest of the final top 5 teams in the country with only ONE of those wins occurring in Tiger Stadium (Arkansas)

EDT: It is a shame that 2011 team didn't win and is forgotten to some degree because there is a strong argument to be made that was the 2nd best LSU team in at least 50 years

2019 is the greatest team. It was just beautiful.

2011 had the best defense I’ve ever seen. Both are just great teams.

Both beat Alabama at their place. Both won championships. I was just glad to see Bama not back door in the playoffs in 2019.

2011 Defense was better and had more overall talent but 2019 Offense was the GOAT

I think that Auburn game from 2019, could give you a good idea, as to how the team would have done against that 2011 LSU team. 2019 Auburn had a better QB and offense than our 2011 offense. 2019 team would have won 27-10 or something like that. The problem with the 2011 team was they had a terrible offense. They would have fared much better than most defenses we faced in 2019, but they wouldn’t have been able to score.

2011 run dominant & better D the entire year

2019 once we got rolling was better due to the ending

How about 2019 offense with 2011 defense?

Not sure anyone in the history of college football is "beating the breaks" off the 2019 defense. But if there was one, it would be the 2019 LSU team.

Really? Beat the fricking brakes off 2011?

2011 Would have smashed 2019 Auburn and 2019 Auburn gave us all we could handle. Nobody will ever know who would have won....my guess is 2019but "beat the brakes off of them"....Nope.

2019 LSU vs Auburn game wasn’t near as close as the score. LSU had trouble scoring in the Red Zone that game but Auburn never had the ball in the 2nd half with a chance to take the lead.

2011 defense with 2019 offense would have won every game by 50. 2011 was really good. Very underrated imo.

We all love the 2019 team, but that 2011 team was very exciting as well.

Those two Alabama scores show you how much the game has changed.

It shows how far behind both teams were offensively in 2011

Saban, as we would expect, just realized it much faster than Miles

In 2011 I would always argue on here that 2006 LSU would beat 2011 LSU more often than not because of how bad the 2011 offense was. This was highly unpopular...until 1/9/12. Then it became a classic "SFP was right" scenario in hindsight.

2019 would beat 2011 because they had the D to contain that offense. They wouldn't put up 40 on the 2011 D or anything, but they'd only need 7-10 probably.
