Rohan to Reed was a record breaker!!!!

So was Max Johnson to Kayshon. Ro only threw 18 TD passes that year.

He gonna have to win and sec title to change my mind.

The SEC is WAY better now, specifically the West, and we made that game with a 5-3 SEC record. And Rohan didn’t even play—Mauck played QB against Tennessee in the SECCG.

I loved Ro as much as the next guy, but he wasn’t quite as great as we remember. He was pretty bad until midway through his JR. year, actually. And he didn’t become the full-time starter until his SR year.

It was because the team was doing things that we hadn’t ever seen before that makes us look back so fondly on that season. And that SECC and Sugar Bowl arse-kicking Ro and co. put on Illinois obviously helped catapult us into a different national stratosphere where we started competing for NCs.

Rohan didn’t need to throw to win

Yet he did throw, and threw as much as Daniels, only much less efficiently.

We had an offense designed around Toefield and Davis

And Daniels is having to throw in an offense handing the ball mainly to Josh Williams. Seems Ro had a big advantage in regards to RBs.

Give me Rohan all day and if you disagree you are under 25.

I’m in my 40s, have much more emotional attachment to Rohan, but in a game played today, you’d be an idiot to take 2001 Rohan over 2022 Daniels.

The touchdowns to INT‘s run startling in favor of Daniels and when you throw in the already nine rushing TDs, that’s quite a statement for our current QB. Having said that, I’d have to see how the rest of the season pans out before making any real assessment.

Daniels for me. It also took Davey awhile to learn to play the position.

You can’t compare stats from two vastly different eras. I can tell you that the best QB in LSU history was probably about a tie between Bert Jones and Joe Burrow. But his stats were nowhere near Burrow’s, because it was a different era.

agree with the premise of the thread—I actually looked up Rohan’s numbers to compare a couple weeks ago. But these numbers for Daniels aren’t correct. I think you may have mixed some of his freshmen year at ASU numbers in there.

Yeah, Daniels is at 1800 yard passing, not 2,900

I know your intent is to create interest and participation in the Rant. However, when your post elicits criticism of the kids presently representing LSU on the team, your post deserves criticism, not the players. Our QB Jayden Daniels, has performed brilliantly despite the incessant complaints from South Louisiana Posters showing their unfettered bias for their local QB’s. Those posters care less about success of the LSU team than they do about inserting their personal preference into the QB position. Your post, which purposely creates a negative perception of easily the best QB on our team, is intended to promote the other QB’s to the detriment of Jayden. Clearly, he, and the other Tiger players do not deserve that.

Do you even sugar bowl Ro, bro

I don't care about stats. This is my favorite all time LSU combo. EVERY time Rohan threw the ball, I expected good things to happen, and most of the time Josh was catching it.

Why are you using his passing numbers from his freshman year at Arizona State along with his rushing numbers from LSU?

I like how this board has just shifted to the belief that the criticism JD was getting until the Florida game wasn't warranted. It absolutely was. But now all the big brainlets are running around talking about "muh IQ".

He's turned it around, I love it, hats off..

yeah it's not even in the same universe honestly. Rohan could sling it down the field for sure. Jayden is checkdown let me receivers make the extra yards. Huge difference. Jayden is very limited in passing and it will show up again against Bama. People who are excusing all the other power 5 games because we played two poor defenses? Knee jerk at its best.

He turned it around against two poor defenses, and still can't see open receivers and his downfield passing is russian roulette it is so inconsistent. I'm with you, but most of these guys that are touting JD for Heisman etc, were already on the JD train no matter what and refuse to see his limitations and quality of defense we play. If he doesn't perform well against Bama (and I expect Nick will capitalize on his weaknesses) it won't be because of him. It will be OL, WR's, OC, etc. That's one thing that is consistent. It's just like the OL should get so much credit for the offensive success against OM...but it's all JD. However, when he is bad, it's not his fault. I saw one poster (Havoc) claiming he was bad against Tenn because no running game. Yeah, hello, Tenn had zero respect for his ability to beat them with his arm. This has gone beyond crazy.

Stop man. This is a different era. They are allowed to adjust anything to fit their narrative.

They don't call me a lunatik for no reason. I guess I'm insane because I'm taking Rohan 10 out of 10 times. This coming from one of Jayden's biggest fans from day 1.

Healthy Rohan is one of the most talented QB’s to ever play for LSU. His problem is he was rarely healthy.

I’m guessing you weren’t around to see Rohan play.

Offenses back then were different. More complex and not necessarily QB friendly from a statistical stand point. Rohan was an absolute beast. He had a cannon for an arm and was deadly accurate.
