I don't think that ball ever touched the ground

Not to mention, he hit the pylon which is the goal line and the play is over, TD.

Fowler and Herbstreit correctly point out that Brown doesn’t lose control of the ball, as he has a hand under it. It was clearly a catch. Anyway, he had already made a football move before he hits the ground and has clear possession crossing the pylon.

The actual possession rule from the NCAA was posted here earlier, and the non-TD call was correct based on the wording of the rule.

As bad as the ruling on the replay was, I'm willing to say "ok" on technicality... simply because the catch rules have become so stupid.

The ball was clearly "caught" using the eyeball test. I will acknowledge that in both college and (especially) NFL, the rules have become so unnecessarily specific and detailed, that obvious catches are technically incomplete.

I mean, the ball moved when he hit the ground.
So, did the ball roll away from him? I didn't see that, I saw the ball shift. I thought I saw his hand still on it the whole time.
I saw something in another game, I forget which one, where the announcers were debating because the ball moved... and it never came out. Was kept a catch.

If the ball had come free and rolled away, I'd be more accepting of the call. Since it didn't, I absolutely hate it.

I thought Sharpe might have gotten his foot down on an incomplete pass on the sideline. They kind of showed the replay really quickly and moved on, it was at least worthy of a closer look.

Picking up the OPI on Clemson on their only TD drive was awful also.

Yes, we took it on the chin with the officiating and overcame it. What makes me very upset is once again we had to overcome Kelly's inexcusable decision not to take the points at the end of the first half. With 15 seconds left and no time out, even if you get the first down you're more than likely going to end up having to take a field goal anyway. It was absolute coaching malpractice not to take the field goal. And its not like its the first time he's done this. USC game last year, FSU game, Tennessee game, etc. He has to quit being overly emotional and make the right decision for his team.

Anyone that is arguing the refs made the right call, and actually believes it was an incomplete pass, needs to have their head examined.

Check the 3rd down pass before Clemson’s td. RG was 5 yards down field when the catch was made.

Been saying it for years. Refs should have to attend a post game press conference too.

Need more accountability across ALL sports.

Hell I recall countless times during Ohio State and Texas, along with our game, the announcers made a point to call out it was an SEC crew. Maybe the bias they showed for Texas fricked us, IDK but it was poorly officiated benefitting Clemson.

they were saying that because they are known for throwing a lot of flags and not letting guys "play"

He never lost possession. Seems like ever one of these plays they mention how the ball can touch the ground and move as long as the player doesn't lose possession.

Agreed still pissed. Got absolutely hosed on those calls.

And the tv crew kinda just glossed over the intentional grounding. They didn’t even mention it.

How do you idiots not understand the rule you’re referring to does not apply to this play. Did you even watch the play? The catch was completed outside the end zone and Brown was running with the ball, the ball crossed the plane of the end zone while Brown was completely inbounds and running with the ball. The ball is dead and the play is over at that instant, the result is a TD.

It’s no different than a running back diving over the pile on a goal line play and the ball being knocked out of his hands after the ball crosses the goal line, you see it all the time. It’s a TD, not a fumble.

This isn’t hard to understand

He did maintain control to the ground and once he hit the ground it moved but the ground can't cause a fumble, therefore it's a catch.
