2001 LSU Tigers: Anchored by Ronald Dupree and CTIII. Nobody averaged 40 minutes a game, but all 5 starters averaged double figures.

Why would anyone average every minute of the game?

Where else were they going to get points?

2001 was one of my favorite teams to watch. The games always went down to the wire (except Kentucky), and the team played their scrawny asses off like no other LSU team I've seen.

Ask Tas, who has played 40 minutes something like 3 of the last 5 outings

South I was wondering where you were. They were bashing your boy Eddie earlier on a different thread. I was waiting for you to ride in on a white horse to save his arse from all the haters.

dude I dont think anyone has averaged 40 minutes a game ever considering games are 40 minutes

That 2001 team had ONE guy who was worth a damn coming off the bench. Had they had any depth whatsoever, they could have been really good

Had Lamont Roland played, we'd have won at least a handful more games. Hell, even Brad Bridgewater would have helped.

I know. I have tried to keep a bit quiet lately... Eating my crow is tough. I thought this team would perform better than they did. I still think Eddie has the potential to be a 7pt 7 reb guy coming off the bench. I like his game a lot. He was a big help when we moved to the zone cause he can still find someone to block out, unlike most in a zone.

On which team was better, I would have to say 2001, but I will say the 2010 team has stayed in games with very good opponents and have certainly gotten better as the year has gone on.

Brian Beshara probably was one of the most berated LSU players of all time.Poor bastard

Avgd 20 ppg against the crappy teams and 5 ppg against the good teams...

But when his laser like 3pt shot was on, he was good. I remember that flat shot like it was yesterday.

Either Dale Brown's last year or Brady's first was the worst Tiger basketball team ever. I can't remember exactly which one it was. There were guys in the stands that could have played for that team.

Isn't 2001 the year Roland went down right before SEC play?
Losing him crippled that team.

During the first SEC game, if I'm not mistaken. Alabama at home? Brad Bridgewater was slated to start that season, too, but tore a knee ligament before the season started. I'm sure I'm gonna get ribbed for this , but if those two injuries hadn't happened, I seriously think LSU would have won the SEC that year, and we'd have very different opinions of John Brady.

Possibly. People have the mistaken belief that coaches are either bad or good. They are human and change over time. I think DiNardo had the potential to be a great coach, as did Brady. They both made decisions as coaches that didn't work out and dug holes they couldn't get out of.

A few small changes, or lucky breaks, could have taken both in drastically different directions.

I would say this is the worst 2-14 team we've had because the SEC hasn't been this bad in a while.

I was talking about this just this morning. Brady got more out of his teams those several years than anybody in the country could have. Those dudes played their asses off.
