I had to go to College Station to visit a project site. Watched the game in my hotel room. And it was exciting to see the Tigers in a Bowl Game.

except we really didn't know what real "Magic" was...........
This was to be clarified by Saban in 2003. How ironic...
I left that quote open on purpose. Thanks for closing that statement..........

Kennison was magical. He was as exciting as Holiday, Peterson & Tyrann when he would line up to receive a kick. When LSU needed a big play and the crowd would start chanting, "EDDIE, EDDIE, EDDIE", you just knew something huge was fixin to happen............

Saban and Dinardo were hired at the same time. When I heard LSU hired Saban to replace Dinardo, for compiling an almost identical record as GD, and having lost the head-to-head match-up, I gotta say, I was pissed.

Isn't it something that most fans felt this way when both both Saban and Miles were hired.......

"and having lost the head-to-head match-up"
that was my first reaction: "dinardo beat that guy!!"

I was at both Indy bowls and that was by far the loudest that stadium has ever been. It was like Tiger Stadium Jr.
The 97 game was the coldest i've ever been in my life, but the drunkeness helped substantially.

Our younger fans would find this hard to believe how excited this fan base was to be playing in the lowly Independence Bowl. I must say, that when I first stepped foot in that stadium I was like.....
It was like being in a High School Stadium compared to Tiger Stadium..........
ETA: The crowd in yesterdays Independence Bowl was frickin pathetic!!!

Loved the big flags with Helmet Mike on them--not a Toonces to be seen.

Did you see that pitiful Missouri Tiger mascot on yesterday's game??
Even Toonces makes that thing look bad......

I was there and like everyone else has said it was so damn cold. I think I was in 6th or 7th grade. We sat in the South endzone directly behind the Michigan State band and some well hydrated LSU fans were throwing the large cups of beer at the tuba players. Unfortunately one of those cups of beer hit my friends dad in the back of the head. Got ugly for a minute after that. I've been in love every since.

Yeah we were right beside the Mich St band. I too was in 7th grade. Such a blast. Changed my life.

The biggest difference in the hires of Saban and Miles is that Saban replaced a fired coach (which is the case most of the time). Miles replaced a successful coach who moved up.
Both were from schools who were No. 2 in their state and I think there was a lot of motivation to be at a school with no instate competition for recruiting.
I remember one of Saban's first interviews after being hired and sizing up LSU. He said:
1. There are too many players being injured in practice.
2. There are too many recruits who don't qualify academically.

Kennison took a kickoff back and Mason answered by taking one back. Then they kicked off and Faulk had a nice return that he almost broke.
