One of my all-time favorite games.

I was 16 and sat right behind the LSU bench. My first big game being there in person. Grown adults throwing oranges on the field.
I was already somewhat hooked on LSU football. After that night, I was all-in for life. It was a glorious night.

I was in the south end zone. Literally could not see the upper deck because of the fog.

I was in the student section for that game.

I work with a guy that was a WR on FSU that team. He said that tiger stadium was hands down the most intimidating venue he played in.
When the oranges started falling down he said that he could see them coming from the top of the upper deck.

I was 11 and sitting in the southeast corner. Oranges everywhere, fog rolling in, players pealing and eating oranges as they walked off the field, crowd going insane, Bobby Bowden putting on his confused look. I'd say that was a pretty awesome experience.

A friend of mine nailed a EBR deputy in the head with an orange. The deputy had been throwing oranges also and he was drunk! Those were the days!!

I was there. It was an unbelievable moment for Jerry. Remember the student section going wild.

The 80's were a wild decade for LSU football.

Ark, MSU, Aub, A&M, UF a little.
70's/80's/90's TS crowds were in another League compared to the current "Sanitized" TS crowds.
Thanks LSUAD for ruining it.
BTW, I was down on the field in that 82 game with TGBFTL.

Definitely memorable for anyone in student section. Really was otherworldly as fog rolled in and oranges started flying.

Dalton was more like 5'7" to 5'8".
5'8" in cleats. LSU has been blessed with great running backs, going back to the Taylor/Cannon/Stovall era, through Alexander the Great, then Hokie, Hilliard, James, then the "modern" era starting with Faulk and Mealy in the mid-90s.
Dalton was one of the hardest working, hardest hitting "little" backs we ever had. Really mid-sized because of his build and the era, but would be considered a tiny scat back in today's game.

I was a student sitting in the student section. It's probably the most memorable game I've ever been to.

I had great seats for that game on about the 20 yard line about 40 rows up. I remember the fog, the long passes and the oranges. It was awesome and loud and it felt inevitable from pre-game on. That was a game LSU was not going to lose. The 82 team is still one of my all-time favorites. They just weren't well-enough coached to navigate the schedule.

I was at the game and it was so bizarre with the fog.Would lose the ball on passes and punts.
I also represented one of the players that stuck a lit packet of matches under a sprinkler head to see if it would go off.It did!And then the hotel had trouble turning it off so it did more damage than it should have.

I was at this game. It was my second year of law school. It was great fun and there was Tiger Stadium magic that night. ABC wanted to televise the game but insisted on an afternoon kickoff. LSU said no and Bowden whined and complained. No way we win this way in the afternoon. Everyone brought oranges.

There is a GREAT chapter about that game in the book Gumbo for the Tiger Soul!

I was there that night...12 years old...unbelievable night...

I remember walking through the gates with everyone carrying 10# bags of oranges & the ticket takers laughing. Things like that will never happen again.
