Jones is gonna be great, but i doubt he’ll keep feasting on sec pitching like he is this

I am a little worried that against mediocre and bad pitching, he really only has two true outcomes: Tank or K.

I’ll see if I can dig up the thread. It was one of those “where does Crews rank?” things.

The pitchers today weren’t that bad. You had guys throwing lower to mid 90s with some decent movement. And we put some hard balls in play off offspeed.

They are better than the one's you'll see tomorrow, but Samford doesn't have 1 single pitcher on their team who could make an SEC roster.

The one who got hurt and pulled during a 3-2 count was hitting 97.

Are you saying Crews has more of an advantage with bats/balls to Walker? I strongly strongly disagree. Walker didn’t have the prime 1998 bats, but they still had quite the pop compared to today.

The flat seam balls alone changed the game ie upped HRs. The drop and major changes to bat design wasn’t until 1994 when they went to the double barreled thin aluminum that cause the change. Walker did not play with those bats in college. He didn’t hit the flat seamed balls which we know changed the game.

We also know that the NCAA testing is shoddy at best today. They look for a sticker but even the weather / temperature changes the pressure in the bat and can make it illegal. (Think Tennessee (and TAMU) 2021).
The shaving and other things such as aging of bats during the season cause them to have more whip.

Why I said Crews was more comparable to Furniss who had the “hotter bats” but raised seam balls than to Walker who had the raised seamed balls and didn’t have the hotter bats or bats more like what Crews is using.

To be fair, Walker did play for LSU in 94.

1988 still thinks Thompson’s defense sucks and Nolan Ryan threw 109 mph. That’s who you’re dealing with.

Here is a little science on Bats.

No I do not this season. His fielding last season was ABSOLUTELY putrid as was every other person that played at SS last season.

And Nolan Ryan DID throw 108+ and that is a fact.
You can’t deny math dumbass. He also threw 98 BY HOW THEY MEASURE IT TODAY for his last pitch at 46. 98 at 46 but but but y ou didn’t see how hard he worked out with heavy weights and what he was known for…

You should probably do the same regarding Walker's time at LSU.

I replied to your thread. It’s not a fact. Pitching Ninja did the analysis. It’s on YouTube. The same game he was “clocked” at 101 mph “10 ft from the plate” also had him topping out at 87 the first inning. It was a laser gun that they only ever used twice in history and it was done as a promotion by that Angels team. They kept tweaking it till they got him over 100 mph because that’s what everyone in the stands was there to see. They don’t even know for certain where they were pointing it just that it wasn’t at the mound because they didn’t want to accidentally blind Nolan. Perhaps if you knew the real facts you wouldn’t look like a dumbass so often.

Youtube

Fast forward to about 12:45 to get the story on the 108 mph fb.

Aaron Hill definitely belongs not only in the conversation but far ahead of Crews. Crews is a work in progress and you are premature comparing him to LSU legends.
Will Dylan Crews go down as the GOAT?

And this bonus thread is a doozy, where I say Walker is ridiculous but get called out for saying he wasn’t a 5 tool player (he wasn’t), and also for saying he didn’t face the quality of pitching Crews has…which led to a Tiger1998 “Nolan Ryan threw the ball 108+” drop in.
I never saw Todd Walker play at LSU

To sum it up, Walker is the GOAT because of the mix of talent, production, and team accomplishment, but Crews is up there over guys who are heavy on team accomplishments and others who were 4 year number compilers instead of 3.
