13-3, 21-7, 22-7. Why can’t we start a game?

The above scores are how we have started our last 3 games. That’s a concerning trend for how we let teams jump all over us

Kelly should start trying to get the ball first to start the game. could be huge and fix this

Teams jump all over us from the start because our "defense" is arse

It's a reflection of poor game preparation.

Look back to last year. It takes JD5 and the offense a bit to get going for whatever reason.

Combine that with zero fricking defense and this is what you get.

Because Matt House is terrible at game planning. This includes all of last year. He was terrible in the first half all last year and we "let him off the hook" because his halftime adjustments were phenomenal. The same has continued this season, but this week he was finally able to adjust. He still blows and still has to go after the season, along with all defensive position coaches.

The offense has been starting slowly, too.

While true, there is a difference between scoring a touchdown in the first three drives and allowing three touchdowns in the first three drives.

LSU's offense has had a lot of 3-and-outs early in the last couple of weeks.

I’m still baffled at how we did what we did in Starkville. They must be the worst team in the SEC by far

For Kelly's entire tenure we have started slow offensively. And when you have a defense with more holes in it than swiss cheese you are going to find yourself in early deficits. Last years Bama game was one of the few games where are Defense played very well in the first half to start the game.

Most the time last year the defense would give up a few scores early and then settle in to get stops in the second half. If that trend was the same as this year we would be undefeated with how good our offense is.

State’s coach is so in over his head.

It's all on House and Kelly for piss poor game preparation. Kelly should be aiming to get the ball first every game to compensate for our pee wee defense.

Milroe and Burton are going to walk all over our secondary. I don't see us winning in Tuscaloosa with how terrible our defense is. Bama might be more mediocre this year compared to past years, but they looked like a pretty solid team in that second half against A&M. Saban made major changes at halftime that Jimbo had absolutely no answer for.

honestly ive seen alot of drops and failed opportunities to start out. theres certainly aggressive playcalling to open things up but it just seems like those deep balls dont find their way to moving the chains.

to me those lopsided scores are on the defense tho.

That would explain the games being tied 21-21 to start

And how many damn times the defense was on the field and it's 3rd and 15 or more and the opponent gets the damn first down. Part of that is the defense can't get off the field even on 3rd and 15 or more.

Our first couple offensive drives seem like we're prepared for a defensive battle. Run, run, short pass that gets misthrown or dropped. Then we get behind and start playing more aggressive and going for chunk yardage on 1st and 2nd down.
