I remember the exact same thing. Very upright, kind of like Eric Dickerson. But clearly not the same results.

Similar to how many SEC schools think of Ole Miss getting Tunsil,Treadwell and other players.

Probably shouldn't say this because I have absolutely nothing but my gut feeling, but methinks it is just a matter of time before some recruiting violations are exposed at Ole Miss.

And I hope I'm wrong.

Extremely nice the only sports car better at that time was the Vette. 280Z was a bad motha, then they came out with the 300Z even badder! Pretty much all the top sports guys or recruits were cruising either the 280 or 300 at that time.

I think I remember Harvey driving the Jaguar 12 cylinder coupe. It was a dark green color.

Can anyone confirm this?

Nope, it was the fight song. Williams heard the fight song in the gym. And, at that time he realized he could not play for song that has that crap for a fight song.

Pete Maravich drove a tan VW Beetle. He almost hit me once when crossing the street beside the Pentagon leading up to Broussard.

Your damn right...he drove a gold one while at LSU. Not saying it was his personally but he sure put some time in behind the wheel.

quote:I was a kid, but I have heard the story that he was set to sign with A&M, then his classmates were singing the A&M fight song and doing Aggie cheers and he hated it so changed his mind that day to go to LSU.

This is the same story I heard. When he heard the song he stepped up and said LSU.

Harvey was insanely high on himself. Thing is, he had a badass set of hands/fists too...

Ironically, his brother Darryl was a great guy.

Still remember him parading his new Benz SL around Broussard after the draft.

I remember seeing John Williams driving around campus in a bright red BMW in the 80s.
I seem to remember that too.

Anyone remember Victor Jones getting a speeding ticket in his Mustang GT, doing over 130 on Scenic Hwy? He was quoted in the paper as saying he was just burning some bad gas out of it...

I had a buddy who used to tell that story, but I've never seen or heard a clip to confirm.

When I see the name 'Harvey Williams' I think of the stupid pregame boast he made before the '89 season leading up to the opening game with T A&M. He received the kickoff and fumbled. We lost the game and that started the dark days of LSU football. Screw Harvey Williams. He is a fricking arse-clown.

He also said he could stand the stupid dog mascot. If you ask me the dog is pretty gay even for back then.

Don't think Bama was ever in on Harvey. I know at SMU thought he was locked up, then it was A&M. He wasn't going any further east than Baton Rouge.

We used to walk around Bryant Denny during the spring game and point out who the starters were by simply comparing the cars parked outside the dorm. College sports IS a money spending commodity. Always has been. Every great now and then the NCAA will make an example out of somebody but this NCAA seems to be a nicer, kinder NCAA and schools are making the most of it.

I can tell you this for a fact, it's as nasty right now as it has ever been. Even schools that are considered mid-majors are in on it. Heck, I know a school that played for the D-1AA championship that is handing out nice incentives. Its everywhere and probably always will be.

Because it couldn't possibly be that LSU had less talent than everyone else. GKY!
