104.9 just asked Harvey Williams for his best recruiting story and he said "man I have to be careful, I could get 4 schools the death penalty."

He didn't give a story, just said said kids wanting to come to LSU will have have dreams come true, special class.

Spurned them at the podium never the less. I am pretty sure he was decked out in maroon at that

Extremely nice the only sports car better at that time was the Vette. 280Z was a bad motha, then they came out with the 300Z even badder! Pretty much all the top sports guys or recruits were cruising either the 280 or 300 at that time.

The way I remember it,is that the Texas A&M people got on his nerves at the last moment, the last day. He didn't like how the A&M fans were talking to him, yelling at him, semi threatening him if he didn't go to A&M. So, he changed to LSU that morning of signing day.

I was a kid, but I have heard the story that he was set to sign with A&M, then his classmates were singing the A&M fight song and doing Aggie cheers and he hated it so changed his mind that day to go to LSU.

The real question is, did he get a gold Trans Am like Eric Dickerson?

I played against Reggie Dupard in HS

I remember him coming back to NOLA while @ SMU driving a sweet arse 280Zx. Pony Express was taking care of it's players

Yeah between him and Corey Webster, they just aren't so pleasant to listen to for a 10 minute segment. Great guys but just not radio savvy

SMU wasn't the only ones doing things back then, they just got caught and the other TX schools turned them in.

I have news for you, all top teams were doing those exact same things back then.

It has more to do with SMU not being a traditional powerhouse and the likes of UTa/OU saying "SMU shouldn't be able to get players like that". Similar to how many SEC schools think of Ole Miss getting Tunsil,Treadwell and other players.

I don't think anyone is surprised that prospects are paid to play for certain universities. That's the way of the game and it still is.
