While the bullpen gives up 3 ERs in 6 innings and we sweep in two blowouts.

Did NOT have that on my bingo card. Just win baby.

Perfect opportunity for them to get back to shoving in Omaha.

Anderson got drilled in the throwing arm and Eyanson pitched twice last weekend. You know they’ll bounce back after a week of rest so the bullpen waking up and picking up the slack was the best outcome for LSU going forward.

Pretty sure nobody saw that coming. The bats came alive too. Love it!

Could not agree more. Putting them to the test and having them come thru (with maybe the exception of Schmidt) was indeed the best case scenario, Throw in Jones taking a shite ton of pitches and lacing line drives and my body is ready,

Seems like WVU scouted them and no one else

My theory is them and other teams that played in lesser conferences see more average pitching through out the year, gain confidence, and when they get hot in the post season, they just rake no matter who they see. Until they don't. Dallas Baptist is an example of both.

I have said this before and will say it again. The SEC pitching during the season was the best. LSU was better against non-SEC pitching. WV was very scrappy. LSU hit the ball hard tonight and could have been more runs. They just hit them right at the WV players.

LSU finally was able to score the runners on base from the walks and hit batters. Big Ben mentioned that in the 2 games, WV allowed 24 batters to get on base by walk or hit by pitch. LSU made them pay. Even in the big inning at the end, they scored 3 unearned runs after the error extended the inning. Huge.

I’d rather them struggle now than in Omaha. Get it out of your system and get back to being shutdown.

LSU getting up big early in both games probably didn’t help. They’ll be just fine

They finally looked human after the way they’ve both pitched the last month.

Have to ask how many of those runs did they give up after having a 5+ run lead. Very common for Pitchers to come out flat after long innings on Offense.

A testament to the talent and depth of the team built by Jay Johnson.

Eayson 4 runs in 5 innings is not bad against that team.

I'm with this

Like others have pointed out, we:
1) were playing a good (and desperate) team
2) Anderson was pitching well until our big inning (sat on the bench a long time)
3) it was hot and muggy, both guys wore down

Hate to tell you but when you have 40 min innings on offense, it’s gonna cost your pitcher rhythm.

Tigers had some long lulls for pitchers this weekend and staying dialed in with 85% humidity and heat isn’t easy.

They were just a little off this weekend, it happens. I expect they'll be back to great next outings.

I don't think the issue with Eyanson was being tired. He had about 30 pitches last Monday, but otherwise he was pitching on a full rest, maybe even an extra couple days.

Those guys just had a good approach at the plate. Averaged 8 runs a game this year.
