Embarrassing

Especially the regression in Year 3 and the pitiful defense in Year 2

Bowl wins are absolutely meaningless
__________

We sure are spoiled. Ever hear of google? Try looking at our history. How many times has an LSU coach done better in his first 3 years? Serious question. Please look it up and give us the answer.

To call him embarrassing is a terrible assessment. Embarrassing even.

Anyone that says yes is lying

I think we all hoped for more. I was a little concerned about Nuss' tendency to be reckless with the ball at times. I think he was generally better than I expected there though he had a few relapse games.

I am hopeful for next season but concerned about all the new players and team chemistry. But time will tell.

There is no doubt Nuss has deficiencies that need to be corrected. The portal receivers should be here in the spring and since they are all experienced, they should acclimate quickly and build chemistry with the QB faster than a HS player that has to go through the transition to college.

I'm less concerned about Nuss than I am the more glaring issue. We finished last in the SEC in rushing with a veteran OL that had high draft picks playing. As a result we threw the ball close to 40 times per game. It's going to be hard to consistently win without playing complimentary football. How this team finished 5th in CFB in 3rd down conversion % with an anemic run game is a wonder. Where it hurts the most though is red zone and a big reason why the team had lots of yards, but not a high point total.

Les Miles and Ed fricking Orgeron won titles in year 3 here. Not even making a 12 team playoff is a huge failure in year 3 for BK.

Not failure, but 8 regular season wins is definitely disappointing.

2023: Kelly, in his second season as LSU coach, predicted his Tigers would "beat the heck out of Florida State" in a pregame remark.

2024: "Judge me on season 3."

2025: LSU's Brian Kelly is “taking receipts and will see you at the National Championship”

We won with a coach that made incoherent ramblings at pressers and a coach that rips his shirt off and shotguns red bulls and smashes them on his head.

I think it's Ok to hold Kelly to their standard, now in year 4. I'll even lower it.
1. Win the opener for the first time in your tenure
2. Get to the playoffs (hopefully win at least 1 playoff game)

That should be a reasonable expectation of a guy I am told is a "great" coach. I think he can do it. It's time for him to back up his words.

If these don't happen, his seat should be scorching hot regardless of his contract.

Go look up Kelly’s teams in the playoffs and in games against good teams also. He has a history of not winning against top 10 teams. This has been true at LSU also. He has won maybe 3-4 games against teams worth a shite at LSU.

There is a video of his players ND talking about how intimidated they were when they saw Alabama take the field when they played them in the playoffs.

We can pay a lot less than $10 mil a year for 9-4 in year 3 with a down SEC dude.

This year's result shouldn't be celebrated.

Not here to give a simple yes or no because there are some things that have been good and some things unacceptable.

Whatever you think, can we stop listing 3 bowl wins as any kind of “accomplishment”? Unless it’s a meaningful game (i.e. playoff) I would much rather trade a regular season win against a good team for a bowl win exhibition against a team we feel is beneath us as a program.

Also somebody asked for an example of a losing team that turned it around quickly - how about Arizona state this year? Nothing of significance in a long time and took over a bad spot without the same talent base, finances, or history to lean on and made it a gnat’s arse away from the final 4.

The program was in complete shambles when he took over. He followed a decimated and undisciplined Ed O led team that had barely 30+ scholarship players. I know we want to compete for a championship every year, but the fact that he stabilized and turned it around as quickly as he did is nothing short of amazing

By barely 30 you mean almost 40. Why lie to defend his shortcomings?
