How you plan to seed teams before championship weekend? When 1 team isn’t in unless they win

Fair enough but they need to weigh the game like the March Madness committee does to the conference tournaments. It shouldn’t matter over the season resume.

I don't think the committee will reward a team sitting at home on championship weekend.

These one-off scenarios aren’t meant for teams not called Alabama.

I know it would be a disadvantage to not have a bye, but i would love to have a home playoff night game against a traditional power like a penn st or michigan. Tiger stadium would be rockin

If we take down Ole Miss, TCB on the road, lose to Bama at home (hopefully make it close and make Bama sweat) and win out, this is obviously very attainable. Obviously, the Ole Miss game will determine the complexion of the rest of the season. If we beat them, we likely enter the top 10 and put ourselves in great position, A&M might be ranked when we get them, we need to get over the Hump in College Station and we very well can. However, if it goes sideways and our 3 losses are USC, A&M, and Bama and we go 9-3 with the injuries we incurred so early. I’m fine with that, we have deficiencies which get exposed at times and still some ways to go. I’m excited about the direction of the program though.

Agree, but it does guarantee making the playoffs this year.

I do believe its probable that a 10-2 SEC team non-SEC championship participant gets a 5-8 seed over a 10-3 ACC game loser, especially if it is Clemson.

I also believe its very possible the SEC ends up with three 11-1 (or better) teams.

Wouldn’t you think we would likely make the SECCG in that scenario considering we’re 7-1 in sec play?

Possibly....but it could still be Bama and Texas undefeated or 1 loss

yep, imo we aren't a championship team due to the lack of talent and depth on the defense. But we very well could end up finding ourselves in the playoffs.

I like this, why not do it in a better format say top 6 or 4 And the rest play for seeding

last year wood look like

1vs6 georgia vs Tennessee
2vs5 bama vs lsu
3vs 4 ole miss vs Missouri
7vs8 aTm vs Kentucky
9vs10 idc vs uf
11vs12 auburn vs ms st
13vs14 Arkansas vs vandy
15vs16 Texas vs Oklahoma (should have put them in according to the old record)

That’s gonna be awesome, for some other team.

I’m just hoping for 8-4 this year

Risky venture. There will be 10-2 teams locked out of the playoff… our quality win opportunities are slippin with Ole Miss and maybe Oklahoma sliding back in the pack.

just do away with conference championships and make it an auto berth for finishing top 2-3 in conference and then do at large beyond that

Just like conference tournaments in major conf. basketball, conference championship games in football are unnecessary in an expanded playoff. They are just money grabs for the conferences with minimal competitive benefit.

There is going to come a time where a 10-2 reaches the conference championship game...loses to fall to 10-3....then gets bumped out of the CFP in favor of a 10-2 team that didn't reach it's conference championship game.

Auburn got completely screwed by having to play in the conf. championship game in 2017. Going into the conf. championship game they were ranked #2 and 10-2 having beaten both Alabama and Georgia. If the season ended that day they were in the CFP, with the two teams they had already defeated on the outside. Instead, they had to play another game...which they lost. It allowed Georgia to jump into the CFP, but WORSE, Alabama to make the CFP. An Alabama team (1) Auburn had already defeated and (2) didn't have to risk their record in a conf. championship game.

It won't happen because of the money, but it is time to get rid of conf. championship games.

This team is not going 10-2. This is a pointless discussion.

Would rather have the home game that comes with the additional revenue.

There's not a single Georgia fan on the planet that mourns the fact that their 2021 National Championship didn't come with a matching SEC trophy.

The problem with this for LSU is that we would have 1 loss in the SEC and it's highly unlikely that a 1 loss team will avoid the SECCG. Bama and Tenn have to play each other. Tenn and Ga have to play each other. Ga and Texas have to play each other.

Highly unlikely but we went 9-3 the last two years with a much worse defense in 2023 and a much worse offense in 2022. If Kelly continues the trend of fielding stronger teams as the season goes on, I wouldn't be totally shocked if we go 6-1. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised at 4-3 either.
