Disagree with OP. I won’t walk across the street to see us play the likes of Nichols or S Alabama. Under previous system SOS was important. If we are afraid to play quality opposition then give it up.

Many on this board did not think we were playoff bound.

If we aren’t good enough we aren’t good enough. 12 teams gives you a chance if you stumble a week or 2. This program has bigger issues than not scheduling cupcake rent a wins. It’s actually one of the few things we can be proud of. Terrible take.

It’s a home and home series and it will be a good one. No neutral site which is great.

You would rather McNeese? Little Sisters of the Poor?

frick that. Why be scared?

Jesus you people would give a Bufferin a headache.

From an entertainment standpoint I MUCH preferer to see LSU play Clemson.

But from a competitive advantage standpoint the increase risk of loss in playing a Clemson vs, say, The Citadel, far exceeds the reward. Penn St and Indiana played weak non-conf. schedules. As long as they finish the season with 1 loss they are making the CFP. Ole Miss remains in the hunt despite playing a horrible non-conf. schedule.

Well...

MSU
UCLA
FSU
FSU
USC

have not been a great run... The last opening game we won was against GSU in 2019 and we went on to win a NC.

It is likely to be the sixth consecutive year of an opening day loss. That’s something. Right?

Not to mention the ticket price.

LSU used to have, for quite a while, home and home with A&M before they came into the SEC and it was typically the first game of the season and that was a great series. Nobody complained then.

It's fine. We'll have 2 more games after Clemson to determine our best 22 starters.

Georgia waxed Clemson to open the season this year and the game is barely even mentioned or used for any type of resume for them.

Winning the game did nothing for them.

Even the GOAT 2019 LSU team played Texas week 2 instead of 1

Give the team a chance to gel/work out some rust, especially in NIL transfer era where you will have new starters almost every year

Yep. And honestly if we had played Texas week 1 instead of week 2 no guarantee we win that game. A warmup game is better week 1

Enlighten us then. Why couldn’t we move nicholls to week zero this past season? You think Bayou Harvard’s going to gonna back out of that game?
Or just add southern/grambling.

your 1st game has to be in another country or you have to have a game scheduled at Hawaii to be able to schedule a week 0 game. FSU opened this year in Ireland against Ga Tech. Nevada, New Mexico, and Delaware St had a games scheduled at Hawaii

You can't just schedule week 0 games when you feel like it

People need to quit complaining about our schedule. We used to open against P5 teams all the time. In fact, from our loss to Va Tech to open the season in 2002 and our loss to Wisconsin to open the season in 2016, we went undefeated in regular season OOC games. People who complain about them are saying to me that we aren't good enough which is the root of the issue, not who we are scheduling.

We should at least have learned enough lessons to schedule a week zero game.

And if either team loses 2 games, they are out. If we finished with 2 losses, we'd be in. Indiana may not even make it in with 1 loss because they have no good wins on their resume, especially if OSU waxes them which they very well may

again unless we play a game out of the country or play a game against Hawaii, week 0 games are not an option

to be fair we don’t schedule them
knowing there would be a 12 team playoff

we scheduled them when everyone was bitching about opening against McNeese.
