It ain’t the qb it’s the offense. Mayer isn’t that bad, but wrong system, not saying he is all world or an amazing qb, but he can get the job done and flash. Just not a good showcase of talent much as lsu was for years at qb prior to burrow

They have personnel issues, zero physicality in their offense but the playcalling is awful.

Offense has been a constant struggle for Venables since he got there. Seems like he could find an OC worth a shite, or maybe he wants to play that type of offense, which is an even bigger issue. As LSU fans, we should remember that debate pretty well.

He’s a prime example of a great coordinator that just doesn’t have it as a head coach

But at least their coach had a clue. They know Underwood can’t throw so they made him a runner, trimmed all the negative stuff from the playbook and leaned on the D. Oklahoma did the opposite, still thinking Mateer is a passer when he’s obviously much better as a runner. Their offensive design is antithetical to their personnel.

Mateer was terrible today. Missed a lot of throws with open receivers, a bad interception deep in OU territory late in the 4th, and he can't take a sack there at the end, under any circumstances.

I told my buddy I thought the game looked like 2 Les Miles teams playing each other with both having Justin Jefferson at qb.
