Reprogramming this fan base is going to take a while

I don’t envy Lane the decades of trauma he is going to have to deal with when it comes to our fans after any loss or even wins that aren’t as convincing as they “should be” lol.
The reaction last week to a one score loss on the road in a hell mouth was so unbelievable to me.
People really need to understand this is a new era and things are not like they used to be.
This fanbase has been traumatized by coaching deficiencies for so long it is going to take a year or two for a lot of people to just chill the frick out even after a loss and realize we are safe now.

Your point is well taken. Even tailgating today I got the sense there was some PTSD lingering from the BK era.
Give lane time to get this thing really rolling. We’ve now dominated Clemson and A&M already this year. Last year we were in a dogfight with Clemson and A&M embarrassed us.

One thing to know about this board, especially the scoreboard is that you are dealing with:
Children
Alters
Complete idiots…..
That post way more than the actual fans.
It’s best to just stay away and do this old school…..watch the game and just leave the phone down.

Oh yeah the Score Board is not a serious place for sure.
But all week the rant (yes I know lol) was filled with threads not just outright blasting Leavitt, but an absurd amount of posters that had absolutely turned on Baker and were even sour on Lane after game 3
It’s totally wild and irrational, but Saban knew exactly what he was talking about when he diagnosed BR with Catastrophe Syndrome.
I don’t know if it’s curable or even treatable, but we have at least finally found a provider that has a plan to manage the symptoms

I clicked over to the in-game thread in the 2nd quarter last night and scrolled through one page and was like

The LSU fanbase is not remotely fixable.

LSU fans were pissed at Lane and LSU offense after first quarter last night and ready to fire everyone.
It’s sad how grown men can be so fragile.

Really thought this was going to be a leaving early thread.

I can guarantee you this is not only an LSU fan problem. Same thing happens everywhere. Reprogramming only works until the next loss.

It long pre-dates the BK era. I can still remember Saban lamenting “catastrophe syndrome” in our fanbase.

We have a lot of “the sky is falling“ pansy fans, as well as the extreme negativity of one portion of our fan base. They are never happy with anything, and even when we do something good, they pick it apart until it stinks. Just insufferable last night on the scoreboard with some of these idiots posting crap.
I find it hard to believe that a lot of that doesn’t seep its way back into the team, and that the coaches are aware of it too. For me, I would be highly pissed if I was putting in that much work and effort to have people do nothing but criticize and be negative about everything and not let it affect my job in some way.
The fan base here, a portion of it, is toxic.

Was almost nothing compared to our 1st possession 3 and out last night.

Saban named it appropriately after the 41-9 loss to UF in 2000. The Catastrophe Syndrome. He was referring to the players it applies equally (maybe more so today) to the fan base. It means you are just waiting (and expecting) for the next bad thing to happen.

Easy to call out PTSD and catastrophe syndrome fans after a statement win at home yesterday. This team goes to Lexington in two weeks and somehow loses this game, just wait and see the posts you’ll get on here.
Fans are the worst at getting overly optimistic and pessimistic.

Real fans, the ones who actually go to the games are more measured…its the internet and tv fans that demand a TD on every drive and 3-and-out on every defense series
These ‘fans’ , mostly what you see on tigerdroppings are in that category and can therefore be ignored

You forgot people who are drunk.

We have every God given right to overreact on this board.
You know “fan” is short for “fanatic,” right?

Just because you have the right to doesn’t mean you have to

I don’t even understand what trauma there should be. It’s a successful overall football program that like many has its down years. We’ve won quite a few nattys in the 2000’s just not Alabama level quantities but otherwise we are comparably great.
