Not going for 2 was just as egregious as not going for 4th & 1...

It's not getting talked about a lot, but Kentucky already won a game last week keeping its offense on the field in OT and getting 2 points.
Did Lane really not see this coming? Did he think Baker's defense was keeping Kentucky out of the endzone?
Not going for 2, in that environment, with the way Kentucky's offense was moving, was a bitch move.

If you go for 2 and don't get it, a TD and Xtra point automatically wins it. This is a poor, thoughtless take

No shite.
And if the other team goes for 2 and converts, which is the current meta in college football, they automatically win too.

I disagree.
You don't make the 2 pt conversion, all KY has to do is get a TD and make the PAT.
I don't mind the decision.
The problem I saw was when Kentucky had the ball, there were 5 straight boom boom boom boom boom completions or runs resulting in better field position and/or a first down. They score a TD and go for 2 (the false start that wasn't called not withstanding which should have resulted in a 5 yd penalty and backing them up to the 8 yard line). In any event, the entire defense evaporated on that play. NO ONE expected a qb sneak. The entire middle of the field opened up. That's on Baker.

Not going for 2 was the move since we got ball first
The defense on the 2 pt conversation was egregious

I remember you, you're the same dork that said we were still likely playoff bound after the Ole Miss loss.

Yeah- that’s a stupid fricking take.

Couidnt agree more. When we kicked the extra point I announced we just lost.
Baker not only got out coached he got embarrassed by Sloan. Completely and utterly embarrassed. Oh wait….what was that another rb running untouched for 373 yards while were pass blitzing………

The chances of making a 4th and 1 is somewhere between 65-70% chance. The chances of making a 2 point conversion is around 45%. So no that’s incorrect. Not going for it on 4th and 1 was the wrong call. Not going for 2 was the right call.

Not if you stop it fool. 2 pt conversions are hard to convert. This years conversion rate is 45%, which favors the defense. Try again

This is the problem you guys aren't getting.
You guys are treating 2 pt. conversions as if they have like a 5-10% success rate.
The 2pt conversion rate in 2024 (latest data I can find) in college football was 46%, meaning 46% of teams converted on their attempt.
In other words, you're giving an inferior team a 46% chance to beat you outright with no recourse. You have to know they are going to try (they did it successfully last fricking week).
This is the same mental blindspot as Baker's zone defense. You think kicking the extra point is safe, when in reality all you are doing is giving the other team a massive % boost of actually winning the game.

You're wrong. Go to sleep.
Have you seen LSUs goal to go play calls this year. You want them to go for 2? Stoooop

This is just a failure of mathematical understanding.
It's not 45% vs 55%.
LSU was a 9.5 favorite, which means based on what the sharpest minds around the country have seen from both teams, Kentucky's chance of winning this game was 28%. By letting Kentucky decide it on a 2pt conversion with a success rate of 45%, you are spotting them a free 17% of winning they wouldn't have otherwise had.

They are hard to do.
While Kentucky isn't an Alabama or a Georgia, they're a scrappy team. That much is evident.

Generally, it is.

If you don't trust your defense.
Which is why I said it's on Baker. All they had to do was knock the ball carrier down.

By all means find the post, maybe I said that maybe I didn’t
Meanwhile I know for a fact you're the pants on head dumb shite retard who said LSU should have gone for 2 after scoring first in OT.
Top shelf dumbassery

This means very little.
Kentucky came out and went straight into the LSU defense. Nothing exotic. No trick plays. Just in your face and let's see what happens.
They clearly didn't go away so the spread means nothing.
Baker called his worst game so far and Kentucky was the benefactor.

There has to be some mathematical share of winning that LSU has, and some share that Kentucky has.
Suppose in a hypothetical universe you had Georgia play South Dakota State 1,000,000 times. Based on difference of talent, coaching, etc, you would expect Georgia to win the vast, vast majority of those games. Something like 980,000 to 20,000. Meaning South Dakota St. is likely winning that game 2% of the time. If, at any point of any game, you offer SDS the option to win at a 45% rate, they would be wise to take it every time.
I don't know what share of winning LSU actually had in this game... no one does... but based on talent most people would say it should have been much better than a coin flip, meaning offering Kentucky a chance to win it at the end with a 45% chance is a massive error. THIS IS ALSO WHY KENTUCKY WENT FOR IT. They knew this increased their chances of winning vs. "playing safe" and tying it with an extra point.
I get the feeling a lot of people here would fail the Monty Hall problem.

Huh? The games already in overtime so the chances of winning are 50/50 at that point (each team had the exact same points scored in 60 minutes). Where is this massive boost coming from? All you’re doing is giving Kentucky a 99% chance of winning by only needing a PAT if LSU doesn’t get it.
