re: Zach Evans says LSU is "still an option"

yep. That's one of the hinkey things about this.
NCAA rules prohibit schools from contacting a player receiving financial aid (FA) OR having signed a LOI [either]. TCU got in trouble for doing just that with our players just a couple years ago.
Here's the fun part:
- you do NOT have to sign a LOI to get FA. FA is only triggered by enrollment.
- however, a LOI MUST be accompanied by FA and the LOI ends the recruiting process.
So he could not sign a LOI, sign FA papers and still be fair game because he is not enrolled yet. If he signed a LOI (and be requirement FA too), he's off limits.
So having 'signed with UGA' means one thing if it was an LOI and another if FA papers only.
The fact that it is fuzzy, unconfirmed, and unspecific as to what exactly he signed, if anything, is concerning. It may just be games... however, it may be games designed to get us in trouble by this illegal contact.
Worth noting: if he signs that LOI (and thus FA) UGA, or whomever he signed with, CAN mention him by name in public forums. He is no longer a recruit when LOI is signed and is now a player.
So, did UGA not confirm signing because they are helping, or his handlers, try and get us in trouble?
Or... did UGA not say anything because he didn't sign a LOI (FA papers only) making him still a recruit, therefore they can't say his name publicly?
ETA:
Or... are he, his brother, and his handlers/entourage just flat out lying about signing anything just because they feel like it? (or he waited too long to take ACT and didn't have scores back in time for ESD and his 'handlers' are embarrassed)
I'm starting to wonder if Kirby was involved in the Matt Womack bullshite.

Wish LSU would come out and say "Evans isn't an option for us"
why?

Look hopefully he has signed his LOI with UGA and we dodged a big issue down the road. Look I am not tryin to dog a kid, this kid dogged himself. He was suspended twice this year from his high school team including the “title game.”
Anybody who doesn’t think his issues will continue going forward remember this. Most of the time when you are winning a state title in Texas there are no issues everyone is happy and everyone understands what is going on with the team don’t screw it up.
It is usually when you have expectations that are not being lived up to is when issues with players typically arise. This kid had everything going his way ranked in the top ten all year and his team won a state title and he had major issues??? That might be a landmine we just side stepped! Just sayin
I'd still take the risk.

Yeah me too. When you get to the level we are as a program, these are the kids that can come in and make you better. We are so deep and talented across the board that if you sign a lesser talent, he will likely never contribute. You can't build a program on guys like this but when you have an HC like O and a program on top, you have the luxury to "roll the dice" on an elite player. This guy is a "can't miss" talent on the field. That's the part that makes it worth the risk. There's only 15-20 of these guys every year.

Stop giving him the attention he desperately needs from whatever daddy issues he's dealing with.

Honestly, I hope this kid goes elsewhere. I wish LSU would put him in his spot and tell him he no longer has a spot available. He’ll wreck someone else’s program. Kid seems like the cancer to a team.

This thread should be delete as it offers nothing to this board.

Billy Napier and Mario Cristobal (OL coach) were Womack's recruiters since they were offensive minded guys. Kirby would likely have recruited defensive players. I believe it was all orchestrated by Saban. Womack told LSU in August 2014 that he intended to enroll in January and therefore signed his FA agreement papers. BAMA got him on campus for an OV in mid-December 2014 and he committed to ALA 2 days later. Somehow, Someway LSU's contacts with Womack were reported to the SEC offices. LSU got played by ALA, an immature kid and his father who were not honest with LSU's staff, and a stupid rule that I've never seen enforced on any other program

Woodward should send him a letter saying they don’t have permission to use any LSU logos or hats for the announcement
Posted on 12/27/19 at 12:37 pm to Jester
It is truly unbelievable that any university could get in trouble for contacting a prospect who has signed a LOI/received FA, but it has not been made public. If the NCAA wants to have a rule like that, then part of that rule should be that the player's status as ineligible for recruitment be logged with the NCAA and available publically. And until it is, no reprocussions for contacting the player.

Almost 100% UGA lock but I'm gonna laugh my arse off at all these comments if he does end up at LSU!

It's like the recruiting version of that missed extra point Auburn got a Mulligan on a few years back. Never seen that rule enforced since.

They quit recruiting him weeks ago

You won't be.
He gone, and it's a positive that there's no mystery about it.

I'm sure the coaching staff has all of the information they need to avoid a violation. Also, the recruit is obligated to notify coaches that they have signed an NLI.
This is nothing like the Womack situation.

The hell yeah comment from Evans was because the question means somebody thinks he might go somewhere other than where he signed!
What makes everybody here think we get Gibbs? Have seen nothing to make me think we lead?

Evans is lying. He's gone. Trying to keep the suspense up but that's long gone.
