A TE is an absolute must. Maybe Takacs is the guy. He could start at LSU this fall instead of being 2nd fiddle to Mayer. No idea if LSU is in his plans.

Seems like a mature player that has two years of eligibility left, interesting.

This CBS article at the link below says May 1 is the cutoff for entering the portal to play Fall sports. Someone on here had reported that it was Feb 1 to enter the portal and May 1 to sign them for Fall sports. I am hoping it is a May 1 deadline to enter the portal to be eligible for football as this article suggests.

That’s why we signed 2 highly rated, experienced transfer OL, to go along with the 4 freshmen OL we signed.

Who knows what two small school studs will do in the SEC? You need both to hit, immediately and in a big way. We signed an ivy league all American tackle and he could barely play center in the SEC. Badara Traore was the top Juco tackle in America when he signed. Transfers are no guarantee and odds are, Campbell and Jones wont be ready to start as TF. The future is bright, but the 2022 season scares me. O-line is very difficult to scout.

Myles is also much better moving within the pocket than Max, although definitely more injury prone.

He's demonstrably better facing pressure. Much faster at processing and decision making, but his escapability is not as good as Johnson's. This receiving corps is full of vertical threats, so he needs time back there.

I think that Feb 1 is for internal SEC transfers.

We can't have guys spend spring and fall camp at one team, then transfer to another team in the same division with all that playbook knowledge.

Not sure why people keep saying this. We've got a very solid room of 3 guys right now, a transfer would only probably make someone else want to transfer. It's not easy to keep 4+ scholarship QBs happy so why rock the boat?

-OL will not be worse than last year… that was the first thing CBK upgraded when he got here. Just look at our class and our transfers.
-Perkins will take over a spot this year. He is THAT GOOD. Watch his film, plus we signed 2 transfers, one of which can see the field immediately
-we just got an all big 10 CB that people refused to throw at, a multi year starter for an awesome ULL defense, and one of the best if not the best slot CBS in the SEC, plus Welch is a stud
-TE is a major need, none of our guys can handle the load.

Needs:
-TE
-3-4 OLB
-can never have enough depth in OL/DL
-BPA

And a year ago we had a very deep and talented QB room. 2 of those QB's are now playing for division rivals. In the last 21 games, 5 different players have played significant time at QB.

You take a QB now because at any time one of yours can quit and transfer out.

Any kid other than a walk-on would be an idiot to sign with us right now. Why would they leave their current team/the portal to come here to be the 3rd, likely 4th QB on the depth chart? And I havent heard any differently, but dont we still have O'Dowd and Faulk as walk-ons?

I guess if it gets to mid-summer and a kid is in the portal about to lose a full season if he doesnt enroll somewhere, we could snag one then, but to do it before then makes no sense for either party.

We just started a WR at QB in our bowl game. In that same season, we had 4 scholarship QB's on the depth chart.

Gotta find a transfer QB that's worth a scholarship. We don't have enough WR's to cover if we lose 4 QB's again.

We still have an extremely deep and talented QB room. And TJ and Myles left the program because we had too many mf'ers in the QB room.

You are just wrong. You are losing the 4 best players from a shitty O-line and replacing them with guys that have had every opportunity and couldn't shine. The transfers might hit - I hope they do, but if you are counting on true freshmen to some in and play at a high level in year one, you obviously dont watch much college football.

These transfers are NOT better than what we already have, but I'll agree on Perkins if he can bulk up a little. The issue is depth at that point, which might be why CBK accepted Weeks and Fields.

We'll see. The standards are pretty high.

TE is a position that can be almost 100% schemed out of an offense. If we dont have a top guy, we'll still be OK. Its far from the #1 priority.

Tight end, corner back, and another wide receiver for 3 of the spots. Maybe a defense lineman or an edge rusher for the last spot. ??

Myles is still here, and of those 21 games where 5 different QB's got significant time, he was only active for 3.

It's more likely that Myles gets hurt and Nuss transfers out than all 3 are available for every game.

Myles Brennan entered the portal when Max became the starter and Ed started cowtowing to Doug Nussmeier. Myles hit the portal the same week Orgeron said GN would play versus Arkansas. He only came back after Max entered the portal.

He left because there were too many QBs and he didnt see a future here. The QB room is fine. We dont need another QB until the next recruiting cycle.

2 TE’s is major overkill. The only logical way to fill out the last 4 spots looking at our roster right now would be

1. TE
2. Center/O-lineman
3. CB/Safety
4. Grad Transfer QB for 1 year.

The only way I'm taking 2 tight ends is if one of them has 3 years left.

I'll take an immediate starter and a young guy. Lsu basically has no one to play tight end this year.

All these offenses run today out of 11 personnel have a running back, tight end, and 3 wide.

If you can find a tight end that can stay on the field to block and catch it makes your offense harder to diagnose.

Tight end
Corner
Center
Safety
