Two words. Beat Bama. Simple as that.

If you speak with people on Saban's staff at MSU, recruiting "incentives" were being utilized. Those at LSU state these tactics improved while there. At Alabama, he has perfected them. This info comes from people who have coached or been non-coaching staff with him at multiple stops.

Now, the Red Elephant Club funds the "incentives" which are dispersed by other people, like barbers in Amite , who keep some for themselves - for the trouble. Unfortunately this year, the barber may have been contacted by the IRS- and surveillance on him by authorities is maintained.

Some may call this "old" news; others, "sour grapes". But call it what you want- Saban wins with the best recruits which until last year were NO 1 in Recruiting for six consecutive seasons. Few teams, if any, can claim that title. Without those recruits, Saban, nor anyone else would have been successful. He knows that and will do what is necessary to continue that.

Is it one of those situations where we’ll like the result but wouldn’t want to know the means to the end?

A lot of naive folk in here that really don’t understand what goes on in the shady world of college recruiting. At least with the high profile guys.

People probably think Kirby “charmed” all those stud recruits last year. Lol!

He learned from the best how to cheat like the best.

No doubt. He and his Saban taught skills are the talk of many high school coaches in that area. And don’t forget no-coaching, great recruiting Fisher, another Saban pupil. TAM, desperate to win and full of cash is primed to take advantage of Fisher’s real skills.

In the good ole days an investigation into Amite football would be underway, and they would find their arse on probation next five years.....among other things...just saying

Amite, aka north tangipahoa parish is more like Mississippi and Alabama than South LA culturally. While it's still majority LSU, there are a number of Alabama and Ole Miss fans.

The last recruit LSU got from Amite was LB Dorset Buckles in 2000. He came to play for Saban. Sam Pettito is Bama’s Asst Director of Player Personnel, basically a recruiter on payroll. The Pettito family has some strong political roots in Amite. Saban knew what he was doing when he hired him back from Smart a year ago. Btw, the Petitto family owns a car dealership in Amite as well!

Thread title was asking about Amite. So I won't be talking about Kentwood, north Tangi, etc. Just Amite High.

Last LSU signee was not LB Dorsett Buckles 2000 (his older brother Carlton also played at LSU as a DB) as mentioned.

QB Lester Ricard, class of 2002, was the last Amite recruit to LSU. Eventually transferred to Tulane.

RB Kendrick Perry, class of 2005 I believe, signed with Ole Miss. But pretty sure LSU wasn't after him.

QB Brandon Mitchell, 2009, originally committed to LSU for basketball. But eventually decommitted and signed with Arkansas to play football. LSU wasn't after him for football that I'm aware.

Don't know of any other major recruits (SEC level) since then until Smith.
