I'm from Amite graduated there in 97. LSU has never recruited there heavily besides the past 5 or 6 years.

the only recruit from there they went after and they got before the last couple years was Lester Ricard and he never started.

There was a 3 star RB quite a few years back they passed on and went to Ole Miss (Kendrick Perry mentioned above).

A WR while i was there in my years went to Tulane and is at the top of thier lists for WR stats even wound up playing for the Saints for a little while (PJ Franklin). Another guy that I went to school with started at FB for the 2000 ravens superbowl team (Alan Ricard). LSU never came calling for them for whatever reason LSU never established themselves in Amite until recently.

Edit I forgot about Buckles.

There was also Carlton Buckels DB from Amite that played from 88-92. Michael “Cocaine” Carr was the QB from Amite that came out in that 1988 Class. He never amounted to shite because he couldn’t stay off dope. LSU never recruited him, he went to Clemson. But everyone in this thread is basically saying the same thing I have said numerous times. Amite players for the most part are for sale. There is a handler / barber up there that everything funnels through. How else is a current players dad making road trips around the SEC and to Tuscaloosa for every game when he works at a car wash waxing cars?

This. I live in Ga and the UGA fans joke about this. They say that a bagman was brought in tow for recruiting. Ga fans have no fear about whistle blowing, especially by alabama. Kirby knows what Saban knows what Kirby knows. Being in opposing divisions keeps it civil. UGA fans have changed their tune about dirty recruiting, incentives and lawbreaking. They no longer take the high moral ground/student athlete road when discussing football accolades.

That’s a shame. Always had respect for UGa.

This entire thing is so overblown. The north Louisiana being a Bama recruiting base with most prospects is fueled by the loss of a few big name kids. The whole boycott thing also helped get this whole idea rolling as well. Look the bottom line is that Nick saban is rarely beaten on the recruiting trail when he zeroes in on a certain prospect. In nearly every case where the Louisiana player was plucked away to Bama it was saban that was the primary influence on the entire thing. This is not just an amite or north LA thing either...Tim Williams went to U-HIGH and went to Bama. So did Dylan Moses. Landon Collins, Daylan Charlot, Shyheim Carter, Devonta Smith, Hootie Jones...the list goes on. It's not an any certain area thing, it's a saban is the best coach in modern college football history, has an entire hands worth of rings to flash, runs the biggest and best program in the country and when he comes into these kids homes in person and says that he wants them to play for him specifically, it makes it very hard for anyone and I mean anyone to even compete with what he brings to the table. How easily it is forgotten that LSU pulls in 90 percent of the top kids in the state each cycle and for the most part wins out on every home state recruit that we go after. And we also do a fantastic job of replacing the kids we end up losing. For every Hootie Jones we've lost there is a Jamal Adams that we've gained. Some losses sting far more than others because of the public nature of the whole announcement thing, a la what Landon Collins commiting to Bama on live TV while his mother is shaking her head wearing an LSU shirt...But I have some good news people....Nick saban is almost 70 years old. His days as the head coach at Bama are truly coming to a close. He nearly bolted to Texas for what would've been his final hoorah and if not for some publicly made comments and whatnot he would've gone. But I'm a strong believer in the thought that when he surpasses bear Bryant's title record and has his name firmly entrenched at the top of the mountain for good then Nick will be done and the challenge he coaches for will be gone and there will not be anything left for him to accomplish. Just imagine the time after saban and the coach who has to try and follow that dynasty....it's going to fall apart. This isn't like when Les took over after saban left LSU. Saban wasn't what saban really became quite yet. The fall from the top is going to be spectacular and nothing short of the fall of Rome is what will happen to the Bama football program in a couple seasons when saban decides to get out. Ten years from now we will look at an Alabama program that has had multiple coaching changes and has failed to win even 10 games for many years in a row and the times of today where Bama is this invincible thing is going to be seen as a distant memory. Just look at what alabama was before saban arrived. The string of coaches who couldn't get it done. The true ineptitude that program had hanging on it like a dark shadow it couldnt shake. It's going to take Bama a decade plus to shake back from the loss of saban as it's head coach. And since they suck at just about everything else in major college sports, losing this football dominance is going to make Bama irrelevant in every possible way year round. Meanwhile LSU will still have it's Yankees type equivalent that the baseball program is still going. Perhaps basketball is able to convince wade to stick around after he tears it up these first few years, and I fully expect the state to keep pumping out high level football talent on an annual basis that whoever the coach will be has to continue to harness to allow us to maintain a relevant formidable force amongst the elite football schools like has been the case since the year 2000 at LSU. Knowing that such a fall from Grace is coming to those p.o.s. gumps and how truly hard the times will be for the entire athletic department in near future for them will be makes me not really care too much about what happens here in these next couple seasons against them. One day there will actually be a sense of sympathy for Bama among the fanbase at some point because it will be that downtrodden compared to today. Enjoy it while it lasts gumps....karma is waiting to bitch slap the living crap out of all of you here soon and it's going to be glorious.

No it isn't "as simple as that". There are influences in Amite and Kentwood that are pro-Bama.

They want to win championships, and it's LSU's burden to beat Saban/Bama and prove we can do it.

Problem is, you have to do it twice in the same season to do it.

I'm not reading that ridiculous complex driven stream of electronic diarrhea but i will respond to the last sentence.

You frickin people are the miss havisham of college football. Forever carrying your saban obsession to the point of frickin madness. Just go back and look at that post and then try to sell to me your frickin wheelhouse isn't open to every person on the alabama campus, right down to the goddamn pottery instructor.

You people need to get together with those other tigers and a few tennessee fans and do some group therapy.

Write a letter expressing your feelings and throw it in the fireplace. That's what stuart smalley would do.

Hmmmm . . .

You spend your time reading other teams' recruiting boards, then you take the time to type out a four paragraph response to what you call "electronic diarrhea," and then you say HE needs therapy?!?!
