BK won’t play them early because they are young?

Womack unquestioned is the most talented freshman at a position of dire need and yet he has seen the field for <10 snaps as a DE who simply needs to get after the QB.

How in the world is BK going to get a freshman in at a position of greater complexity and let them get after it right away.

Because, not all 5 stars or highly rated 4 stars are of the caliber of Campbell at LT who seems in the minority of playing early in when the roster is so depleted

Why does everyone feel the need to lie?

We had 4 true freshman starters last year, two anchoring our offensive line. True freshman are playing right now in Weeks and Stamps. He has tried to rotate Heard in but he's not ready. There was reported discipline issues with Womack last week. Yes, he should have played more.

What's the point of coaches if we are letting the recruiting services decide our lineups?

Remember when everyone thought Denver Harris was a ready made reincarnation of Derek Stingley and Jayden needed to sit because Nuss was clearly the better option? Maybe, just maybe we aren’t in practice everyday and aren’t the best sources to determine who is ready to play and who isn’t.

BK said outright why Womack didn't play much against Ole Miss. He isn't ready to play run D and Ole Miss doesn't let you sub much so they didn't want him stuck out there getting dominated. Hindsight, they should have just played him, our Run D was stupid anyway.

People don’t understand that freshmen who are ready to play immediately are the anomaly not the norm.

If Kelly thought they were ready, he would play them. He would rather sit them and lose, correct?

So what's the excuse for sitting Weeks? He was the best player on defense last week by a nice margin per PFF.

This is partially my point. Whether they are 3,4,5 stars they still have a standard and will need to be coached. So no need to bitch/moan about not having enough 5 stars when most won’t play out the block.

The other part of my thought is this: on a team like this with obvious holes, the coaches should get to a point that they simply have to play the young guys regardless of how ready they are for every single situation in the game. Playing Womack and letting him learn from not playing well against the run is better than not playing him, getting run over anyways with the guys we are trotting out there and him not getting game reps

He does play kids early. Just not that many on the defensive side because we lack coaching on that side.

Absolutely 0 excuse for not playing weeks. He shouldn’t leave the field except to rest a few plays. Best ILB on the team

Just like getting your news from the general media, chances of ulterior motives.

It's called coaching & getting kids ready.

Are you at practice daily? Summer Camp? Film Studies?

ffs, it's not always about "oh, he good..play him or else"

I totally get that.
My only thing is, if the upperclassmen are making the same mistakes on the field Freshman would make why not just play the Freshman?

At least you have more eligibility out of them to grow and improve
