I watched Garry James play HS ball at West Jeff, I was 12 years old. That guy was a full grown arse man running straight over people. Quite frankly all those guys back then looked like grown men. I think their kids were at the game too.
My best memory was being at the
West Jeff vs Ehret classic in 1981
10,000 people were there.

I played against Garry. You'd have the angle on him and he'd just explode past you. I think he was running 4.4 when very few were.

That’s not the point. If you have 10 RBs, you will end up with the best 5 or you should end up with 5 really good backs
This sounds great in theory, but again you're going have 5 transfer out each year. This isnt long term sustainable to me. You have too many guys in the room that want to play and could care less where they get that playing time. There still needs to be some balance there where you have guys who want to be LSU Tigers in the end regardless if they are playing or not. This is why I think a lot of the 20 scholarship increase isnt necessarily going to go to 3-4-5 star type players and stack them up with no extra playing time to go around rather most of these will just be handed to "program" guys (mostly walk ons) who would do anything for you, and its good to have those guys in your program. This is how I see most programs using the extra scholarships, not just LSU handing out 20 more schollies to 3-4 star guys.

Not only that but once the stats get out there about how many transfers don’t make it after transferring compared to staying at their original school then the transfer issue will subside a little.
This october will mark the sixth year of the portal and the fourth since unrestricted transfers were allowed. It hasnt gotten better and with the additional schollies now its only going to get much worse. Its not trending in any good direction giving 20 more schollies out per school when there was already not near enough playingt time to go around wiht 85.

He plays much better competition than Harlem Berry does

Nate Sheppard scores school record 7 TD’s in 56-14 win over Slidell.
Scores were KO and Punt returns also.
Just saying……….Lester’s analysis is looking pretty accurate.

He is a very patient runner and has great vision in the open field. His last touchdown he glided down the sideline, slowed down just enough to dive into the end zone right in front of the defenders.

Yea he’s the whole package. Great vision, but aggressive & physical when he needs to be. I love when the RB is the most competitive guy on the field.

Never mind, I just read a good article by “Sportskeeda” about Sheppard. This kid knows what he wants, and Manny Diaz pushed hard for his commit to Duke.
He has 2 SEC offers, Cal, Pitt, Ga Tech, Colorado, Tulane, Houston, Etc. (more than 20 D1 offers)
Sounds like a perfect fit for him. Congratulations and good luck young man, looking forward to watching you on TV.

He also had 9 tackles in Friday’s Game. He’s an excellent safety.

I’ve watched him several times. He’s the real deal, I definitely think he’s an SEC caliber player whether it’s at RB or safety. 4.0 student, very quiet kid. He flips a switch once he puts on the pads

Btw, I don’t even know who “the guy” is as LSU now that Sam is gone. Lol

Typically when you sign the #1 running back in the nation, you don’t much worry about someone that’s top 20 in the state.

Yeah, LSU got the 2 RB’s they want.
Evaluations are subjective. Especially, when the Senior year of ball was not played yet.
Nate Sheppard will be a tremendous RB for Duke. He will be re-recruited hard, but I believe he sticks with Duke.

An 11.5 100m dash in a 190lb body is not “the entire package” when you’re trying to compete for national championships. Even if you’re a program whose goal is just to avoid the cellar of the SEC it’s not the entire package.

I agree, assuming you are talking about running track at lsu
There are zero issues with his football speed. Put in a little effort and watch his Jr & Sr year tape.
