Our plan is to suck at DT because we have no other plans, and our DT recruiting has been horrendous.

"pay him ..."
Exactly what is wrong with and destroying college football. NO loyalty, all about the $ and unrestricted free agency. Follows the pattern of this world though.

Honorable mention is a much needed body at Lsu whether it's a 10 win season or not

You can't hide behind academics forever when they are loudly talking about new 3 billion dollar TV contract deals and programs moving from conference to conference strictly for money purposes. Paying the players was inevitable.

And this money can't even be regulated because NIL deals are sponsorships. Even if you built it like the NFL, you can't stop them from going to the highest bidder. The only way you change it is by running it like a business and making the kids sign multi year or hell, one year contracts.
Make 3 year contracts and after that, they are free to go to the NFL or sign a contract with another school for a year or two based on eligibility. This regulation can end the transfer portal nonsense of young players leaving after one year.

Take out the ole’ checkbook and start making it rain $$$$$$. In this day of college football, this is what it will take.

A combination of all of these:
Won’t be able to rotate as much as we would like
Mckinley will have to step up/not take a red shirt
Paris Shand/Savion Jones will have to play some inside

Even if we land both of these guys, one bad game and people will bitch about how those spots were wasted on them.
maybe but the blame should be placed on CBK
he had an entire recruiting cycle and two transfer portals to shore up the dline and had no choice but to “waste” those spots at the end
that’s piss poor management

Kelly knows the DT room is in desperate and urgent need of an upgrade. I don't see why we wouldn't spend in this specific situation. I wonder if Bo's success in the draft last week is helping any of these guy's decision.

I'd honestly be surprised if LSU wins 10 games this year with their schedule, and offense that will be worse, and a defense that may not see a ton of improvement from last year.
I didn't think the secondary could get any worse than last year but after watching spring game I'm terrified with Sage/Burns as your last line of defense. Currently DL is much worse than last year which is saying something. Could the defense end up worse than last year? Tons of inexperience at CB, Sage/Burns at S, and a DL that's significantly lacking depth on a much harder schedule
In your first 100 or so posts with this alter, you've proven to be one of the shittiest posters on here.
Maybe you should delete this alter and start another.

No need to be sensitive. Looking at the facts right now it's not looking good for LSU and they didn't really address any defensive concerns on a historically bad defense last year. The only upside positive is the HOPE younger guys develop and you got a good coaching staff on paper to develop them. It's still the same defense minus depth and experience. They lost 3 NFL DL and that unit was arguably weak last year.
Looking at the spring game the defense was really bad. There was a few positives for sure. Maybe we can say it's them learning a new defense that's fair. We'll know more in the fall. Right now the DT is a massive hole in the defense even Kelly addressed it. At CB you have a ton of inexperience but I'd say this area is encouraging because some of the younger CBs looked pretty good in spring. You still have Perkins on defense always a major positive.
I think it's pretty unrealistic to think offense will be as good or better than last year. I believe they'll still be good because Kelly is an offensive minded coach and I like the confidence Nuss has. That combined with one of the hardest strength of schedules in the country I don't know why what I said is that bad. Sure, you can look at it as a negative but I'm looking at the facts right now.
I'd love to come back and say I was completely wrong. I sure can be. I never thought Jayden could ever see the season he did last year. That's the thing nobody here can predict development on a player. It happens all the time an offseason happens and something clicks which I'm hoping it does for several guys. I think LSU has the right pieces to start with on defense in coaching and that might be the difference maker. Maybe Kelly felt they just needed development talent is not the issue. They still need to address DT though.

Just curious if you'd stay at your current job if someone else offered you a few hundred grand more to do the same thing? As a follow-up: Are you also "exactly what is wrong with and destroying" the world? Or does that only apply to one job in particular?
As a second follow-up: Since you hate the use of money as an incentive, what's your preferred economic system? Surely you hate capitalism, based on this post.

Supposedly LSU had $500K each for 3 players that went pro (B. Thomas, Wingo, & Smith) if they would return. How about offer the two DTs we still in the running for $750K each?
Posted on 5/1/24 at 9:12 am to BayouBuckwheat87
I say we get both of them. Bo will make it happen. LSU also needs to consider getting another RB also with experience. Especially if Holly does not make it back. Three DL and a RB.

Pub, so what do you think the plan is? BK will slip the head linesman a 50 spot to ignore the extra player on the field?
I completely missed that!

I hope we get both but I dunno how that would even happen
