I don’t think LSU employee’s kids should be expected to come to LSU. I know it’s emotional and difficult but we have to separate the athlete from the parent to be fair. Besides we are looking for who’s looking for us!

Why even recruit? Just post a sign up sheet outside the athletics building.

LSU fans should have serious doubt with most Baton Rouge HS players coming to LSU, especially UHigh.

Was CBK trying to steal one that Ed never recruited hard?

I’ve a hard time lamenting him committing to another team if LSU Etienne’d him.

It might be better for Verge if his son plays somewhere else.

It takes the politics out of his sons playing for him and the kid. If the kid plays here, it opens the door for criticism. If he doesn’t play it opens the door for criticism. It just avoids potential drama for him.

Anyone who would say or think negatively about Verge needs to step away for a moment. I hope my kids can play for LSU one day and I bet Verge felt that as well. However his son has every right to go where he wants and Verge did his one job to the best of his ability, allow his sons to become young men.

People often comment that Verge is the only person in the athletic department that will call or e-mail back fans every single time. He’s a friend to LSU and has the responsibility as a father to support his son. Hopefully people don’t get caught up in the emotions of recruiting and forget this.

I am however very frustrated that the Lab School has become such a feeder for the rest of the west when those kids enjoy the fruits of LSU athletics. Hopefully we can figure out what is going on with how this has been happening for so long and work to fix it. The school has too many talented athletes to not be completely locked down.

I agree. It's one thing to go to a high school across town, it's another when youve gone to the same school since daycare that happens to be on LSU's campus and where your dad works/is still under an NCAA investigation for a rape case.

I bet he does want to get out of town and have a fresh start.

We need CBs. I understand what you are saying, but it's not a luxury position after Raymond flopped on recruits the past few seasons.

I won’t get mad about either of them. We’re talking about that have lived in BR their entire lives and has the opportunity to go get a new experience in a different city on someone else’s dime. I don’t blame him one bit because the last thing I wanted to do at that time in my life is go to my hometown college and I’m all the better for not doing that.

Maybe Verge is setting up Auburn for a signing day flip.

That's a hard pill for alot of LSU fans to swallow because alot of fans either arent from Baton Rouge who also went to LSU or didnt even actually go to LSU in the first place.

Verge if I remember right actually started his career at SMU and switched to LSU when they got the death penalty

Kind of similar to the Justin Reid deal, where he ended up at Stanford over LSU

You have to let your kid make their own decisions in life and respect that
I don't have a problem with him doing that

Verge did not like Ed hence not wanting his son to play for him, and Ed probably did not recruit the kid very hard. By the time we got Kelly it was to late. Also, don't assume the brothers will play together, that is definetely not a sure thing.

Pretty sad when a kid does not have respect for his Dad.

Verge was a walk-on from New Iberia who earned a scholarship. The guy who played next to him started at SMU then transferred after SMU death penalty
