So you go to hated rival? How can you even have the parent on campus now? It’s a security risk

Cool. Maybe don’t send them to a direct division rival then?

No way to sugar coat this. Kids respect their parents and want to follow in their footsteps. Have to believe Verge made his feelings known about where to go. So, makes you wonder what Verge says about LSU when he’s at home and not at work.

Very accurate analysis of the situation. Verge was a star player at LSU, seems like the sons would want to follow in his footsteps. What soured them? Look at Jamie Howard’s son, can’t wait to play for his Dad’s team.

Verge if I remember right actually started his career at SMU and switched to LSU when they got the death penalty

Yea you don’t remember right. Verge is from New Iberia and started his career at LSU and ended it at LSU

I have ZERO problem with the kid wanting to go somewhere else, Stanford, Clemson, Ohio St, but a division rival after LSU has been supporting your family for years. I also would have ZERO problem with LSU telling his dad to go collect his cushy salary somewhere else

I don’t think LSU employee’s kids should be expected to come to LSU.

Then you are in the minority! Verge should be fired..Period!

I think the jury is still out on whether or not Verge will still be employed at LSU much longer. These Title IX violations don't just disappear like magic.

One won the Heisman and the other was the runner-up. I dont blame either for going somewhere else and not having to put up with the pressure of comparisons with their fathers.

Verge was an average player who holds an office within the University. He should have been fired already. No way he should still be employed with his kids going to a rival school.

I’ve a hard time lamenting him committing to another team if LSU Etienne’d him.

Not sure how accurate this narrative is. Etienne originally committed to aTm, then decommitted then said he was deciding between aTm, Tenn, and Oregon. At that point he still did have any offers from LSU or Clemson. LSU offered him in December 2016, Clemson in January 2017.

Many of the Uhigh kids have grown up on the LSU campus since kindergarten (Ausberry kids included). For many of the kids, LSU is common place and has no excitement for them. It's been their everyday routine for over a decade already. Many are just ready to get away and start carving a new more exciting path, athletes and non-athletes alike.

My daughter was born an LSU Tiger, was raised an LSU Tiger and has always been an LSU Tiger... she went to school for 13 years on the campus. When she graduated she was ready to experience something new elsewhere.

I'd love for all the Uhigh athletes that are deserving to end up at LSU but you have to understand that other dynamics are involved on these kids making decisions.

Two schools of thought on this one. I like Verg very much. Knew him and his father back in the New Iberia days. Both are high character individuals.

His son made a decision based on what he felt was best for him and he will have to stand behind it - good or bad.

All that said, I wish he would have selected the LSU Tigers and wish him the best, except when we play his team.
