I won’t be surprised if he wins the job eventually, but this is not a move that will cause Nussmeier to leave

Somewhat. Because the topic and your statement deserved it. How about a direct question. IF Nuss leaves because of Swann, in what scenario is that a bad thing for LSU? Either he wasn't confident he could beat out Swann, or Swann beats him out in camp and we were able to determine that before the season started.
But back to the rhetorical question. This is ridiculous as Nuss isnt leaving.
