Oklahoma had long been out it. Indiana was unfortunately becoming obvious after the Elite 11, and his interactions with Jameis Winston.

Crap I read the first three pages, thinking this seems like old info, before I looked at the date of the post I was reading. Thanks for the update.

. Meanwhile, Jim McElwain has managed to send two consecutive starting QBs, with far less natural talent than Gunner Kiel, to the NFL.

How many past and future first rounders did McElwain have to work with?

That's kind of my point. He's gotten guys to the NFL who probably wouldn't have otherwise.

Kevin Wilson is obviously a great offensive mind, but IU isn't OU. It's a lot easier to develop a NFL caliber QB with the skill and offensive line talent that a place like OU provides you. It's quite another story in trying to build that on the run at IU.

Is there a new staff there?

Yes. Kevin Wilson, OK's former OC is the HC, and Rich Rod's former QB coach is the OC.

Sorry, y'all, but INDIANA?

I laughed out loud in the car when I heard that he committed to INDIANA.

Ask Tim Couch how fun it is playing for a conference doormat.

I'm guessing he thought it didn't effect his draft status.

If a program wants to turn around, you have to start somewhere.

I would say this is a good start.

This list is two years old, but for everyone calling Kiel stupid I think you should look at this:

49ers Alex Smith Utah
Bears Kyle Orton Purdue
Bengals Carson Palmer USC
Bills Trent Edwards Stanford
Broncos Jay Cutler Vanderbilt
Browns Derek Anderson Oregon St.
Buccaneers Jeff Garcia San Jose St.
Cardinals Kurt Warner Northern Iowa
Chargers Phillip Rivers NC State
Chiefs Brodie Croyle Alabama
Colts Peyton Manning Tennessee
Cowboys Tony Romo Eastern Illinois
Dolphins Chad Pennington Marshall
Eagles Donovan McNabb Syracuse
Falcons Matt Ryan Boston College
Jaguars David Garrard East Carolina
Jets Brett Favre Southern Miss.
Lions Jon Kitna Central Washington
NY Giants Eli Manning Ole Miss.
Packers Aaron Rogers California
Panthers Jake Delhomme SW Louisiana
Patriots Matt Cassell USC
Pittsburgh Ben Rothliesberger Miami of Ohio
Raiders Jamarcus Russell LSU
Ravens Joe Flacco Delaware
Redskins Jason Campbell Auburn
Saints Drew Brees Purdue
Seahawks Matt Hasselbeck Boston College
Texans Matt Shaub Virginia
Titans Kerry Collins Penn St.
Vikings Tavaris Jackson Alabama St.

Indiana is just as good (or close to) as half of the teams listed. Talent is talent, most talented kids want to join teams with a chance to win it all; but if you value building your community over a college championship in someone else's backdoor, there is nothing to be faulted.
